Smart short term move. I really am intrigued by Pigrome as well, but at the end of the day if the Bombers feel his upside as an actual QB is lower than Brown's than really bringing back Prukop who runs our short game very well is a no brainer. A lot of people here are thinking Pigrome had the tools to progress to QB1 someday, obviously the Bombers do not share that evaluation.

That's not necessarily true. Many players spend time on the PR to learn the CFL and mature etc. If in fact they DON'T sign him to the PR then your argument could be correct. Even on the PR, there is no certainty that a given player survives and stays with the team.

We made a short term move here is all I was getting at. The Bombers obviously felt that the short term gain of Prukop outweighed the long term upside of Pigrome....OR they feel extremely confident they could have both....if in fact he does go to our PR.

I just don't see the down side of bringing him back. The guy is an excellent short yardage QB. A lot of people are crapping on his excellent season last year because for some inexplicable reason our coaching staff had him taking 20 snaps in the Grey Cup at QB1 for us. That isn't a fair assessment of what he brings to the table.

smart move and hopefully Piggy stays in the mix longterm.....Cause if Brown got hurt in a short yardage play, and then say ZC goes down after that....Do you really feel good about our success with Piggy as the starter for an exyended period??....I would hope not...he's totally not ready for that

I honestly wouldn’t feel any better with Prukop. But no question he’s more capable/trusted to do his 3rd down thing.

Fair point.

I'm almost shocked that we actually made a move to take a guy off the roster who is basically useless and wasnt going to be used....now...lets do that in a few other positions

My thinking was that, I'm skepitcal Brown is going to be a starting QB for the Bombers. Not because he isn't good enough, but because he will have an opportunity elsewhere while Collaros plays out this contract. Prukop is not a franchise guy. He is what he is. Piggy....? Who knows...he very well could be a franchise guy. I figured, he could do the 3rd qb job while developing and IF brown leaves, we have another QB in the pipeline. As I see it right now. We could be in a very different qb situation come next year (not that, that matters right now).

Pretty sure that neither of the 3 guys we have/had were the future after ZC is finished...My bet is we see a ZC/Strev combo for 2025 with some rookie 3rd stringer who will never see the field and just is filling out the roster on a cheap contract...so this move here is for the now...nothing more...nothing less

No way another team lets Strevy come back to Winnipeg. Not nearly enough arms to go around.

Other teams tho have no say in where he wants to go tho....if he hangs on down there until then he will have made some bank....so can easily see him back here on a fair deal for both sides...and with possible at home Grey Cup appearance in 2025....consider that a slam dunk

Unless Zach retires, Strevy would go be a starter somewhere else.

Wishful thinking to think he'd come be a back-up when 6 teams would be trying to outbid each other to bring him in as a starter.

Yeah I don't see the Bombers locking up 8-900k on two players. Zacks last year is his most expensive I believe. And Like others have said, Strevy will likely be in demand. I love the idea of him back here, but I'm not sure it's feasible.

I can see why our brain trust made the move to Dakota.....experience for sure and he certainly was money on short yardage ........just don't like some of his throws

He shouldn't be throwing except on the odd gadget play.

Don't love Prukop but I know the QB room liked him last year. Weren't they all drawing up plays for each other?

He's a good short yardage guy.

Too bad Pigrome didn't stick, made for an exciting preseason.

The QB room could have been a huge consideration in this as well. We don't know what Prukop's value in there was. Perhaps, it was very high.

Seeing how tight their roster management is and how hard they squeeze the PR, they'd have to make a spot for Piggy and there's no room for a 4th QB with nothing much to do.  O'Shea's focus is on this season and he's not even looking down the road past November.

I would say if there was any player who was likely to ignore the $ to come back here it would be Strevy.

Not about the money, it's about play time.

agreed...and who knows....maybe someone has heard when the time is right he is coming back here regardless of role and cash....hmmmm...interesting theory dare i say...and in 2025....3 seasons from now basically ....ZC may have one foot out door ready to sail off.....things to consider

Yep, Strev has said he wants to play and he wants to become a starter, by the time he comes back to the CFL he won't have the patience to wait for Zach to retire like Brown seems content to do and I doubt he would accept solely being used as a 3rd down specialist anymore.  He can see filling that job has no long term upside.

2 qb's on filed at same time....short yardage...and extended plays after the sneak.....packages in red zone....just like before...be ample playtime, and like most on this squad have said...the cuture isnt about stats and playing time...its about team...team success and winning

Maybe....but by 2025 it might be necessary for ZCs future to embrace a 2019 style 2 headed QB tandem. he will be up there in age.

this right here....and more a 50/50 split or even heavily tilty Strevs way...2025 is a long time from today as well...lots could change

All players want to play and be a starter, however, I would be particularly interested in where you heard him state ANYTHING about CFL opportunities since he left for the NFL. Where did he state this? I think you are mistaken. Strev to my knowledge has not ever at any time entertained a return to the CFL since he left, and would only do so once all his NFL options were exhausted. Then and only then would we know what his intentions, salary, and play time preferences are. Anyone saying they know what a guy like Strev would want is full of beans. He is not your average dude.
