I agree in what you are saying as far as the CFL goes where trench talent is hard to acquire. In the NFL the top of the draft will always be skilled guys mostly, and that is because there is a plethora of line talent available. The exception to the rule mostly being blindside OT which are coveted guys.

Blind side isn’t what it used to be in the nfl. Both tackle spots are pretty close in terms of importance now.
Skill talent will always dominate, which is why when a trench guy is in the top 5 they are generally a lock.

Zero chance he's ever back up here.

There's no cap on PR time anymore so even if he loses a step he'll have a job in the NFL until he's done.

Yea...he is a cut above fringe NFL roster guy. He is at worst productive backup. He will have a job until he loses a step.

For sure. The occasional trench guy that goes top 5 it's because they view him a generational talent at his position.

yeah the onus now isnt as extreme now with a LT....it's still important...both ae...but games has changed where the QB doesn't need that super elite LT now

True. However, the odd one still sneaks in as a high draft pick.

Yea...I mean some years, like 2022, you get a run on them (3 in the top 10) but most times it is mainly skill guys and QBs with just a salt and peppering of trench guys. It's a supply and demand thing. Lots of OL and DL available each year. Then you take the CFL and if we have 8 good OL available it's probably how the draft will shake out 1-8. Actually...maybe not...Saskatchewan probably does not draft one because O'Day is stupid.

I think the thing for the nfl is the ol talent especially at T isn’t where they need it to be. You can get a beast pass rusher in the first 2-3 rounds reliably or a run stopper in one tech or another. You can spend late picks on super athletes who are raw. Because dl gets money and attention. The kids want to play dl instead of being an ol. The ol out of the top 2 rounds (draft year depending of course) aren’t nearly as good a prospect as the late 3rd and down pass rushers.
And because ol just don’t get rotated it’s hard to be a specialist and succeed as an ol. Maybe as a beast run blocker on a heavy run team they’ll prop you up in pass pro but it’s not the same as a 50% of snaps de who just pins his ears back.
I think that’s why we continue to see more Canadian ol prospects rise in value down south. Those kids have been ol their whole career, aren’t failed dl, and they are the best big athletes in the sport/market. Up here the outliers like gray are immediately looked at as ol. Down south hed as been a dl for sure.

Too bad our defense couldn't have done that this year but it's Collaros fault we lost. Instead, we play Cover Zero & blitz on the goal line. Great strategy by an over the hill DC.

Enough blame to go around- special teams, roster management, and sub-par offence and defence. Even Walters did not bring in any outstanding players this past season.

Sub par offence and defence? Our defence was the best in the league and our offence was very narrowly ranked second..

The bottom line is our star best in the league, highest paid in the league got out played by a 3rd stringer cosplaying as a starter. That's not OK.

this should be someone's signature.... just keep this direct quote around for awhile.

Not when it counted. Statistics are nice but no substitute for wins (which are sort of statistics, I guess).

Cody has the extra motivation of being hated by an entire province, it pushed him over the top.

That's the most frustrating thing about the last couple cups for me. One more play like that in either game and we win.

the winning TD this past GC is something that would have been intercepted in any other game vs Montreal..... it's just a classic play where someone like Alexander comes outta nowhere and picks it off to break Faj's heart yet again and leave him crying on his stomach on the field. But somehow didn't happen this time.... because **** us, right??

It’s an odd time of year for work outs. No real chance of that leading to a gig this year. Lots of fringe guys looking for camp invites not the possibility of getting hurt for no pay. I feel like this stage of the cfl window is often now cfl vs cfl work outs. With some guys doing little more than providing bodies.

True too. And the nfl will ways take shots on big smooth WRs.

And KSB is not a smooth receiver...or even an adequate route runner...he's getting a look based on exact same thing as Lenius...body type...and that's it...
