Nolby Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 (edited) First time since 2001 that were gonna finish with a similar record. wondering which team has the upper hand on the other. Edited October 2, 2022 by Nolby
Bomber_fanaddict Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 I have been thinking about this all year. So many similarities between the 2 teams. Many games in 2001 were close wins as they are this year. I do think our D is better than 2001 and our O arguably is slightly worse at this point. We had with 509 points on O and gave up 383 on D back in 01. As long as we don’t play an 8-10 team in the GC we will be fine 😉

BigBlueFanatic Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 The current team is the two-time back to back reigning GC champion… they know how to get it done whereas the ‘01 team didn’t show up when it counted. GOLD MEMBER, Bigblue204, bb1 and 1 other 4
Noeller Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 It's honestly not even close. And I'm not sure this team is as good as last year's. Bigblue204, Bubba Zanetti, BigBlueFanatic and 4 others 1 6
Bomber_fanaddict Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 I also think a lot about the 58,59, 61,62 years when they say the 1960 team was the best of them all but lost in the playoffs. Could we be repeating history (less a pandemic year?) Noeller 1

Since it’s all hypothetical, add back Kyrie, Houston, Ellingson and Woli… it gets way closer but the ‘21 team was all-time. Wideleft, blue_gold_84, Noeller and 1 other 3 1
17to85 Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 01 maybe had bigger stars but way less depth.
O2L Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 Didn’t khari and milt just have absolutely ludicrous stats in ‘01? Noeller and Bigblue204 2

I think you are thinking of 2002: Stegall's stats: 106 catches for 1,896 yards. 10 games of over 100 yards, 23 receiving touchdowns. He set the league record for most touchdowns in a single season, and most receiving touchdowns in a single season. That same year Jones threw 5,354 yards and 46 touchdown passes. Jesse Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 I'd like to point out that after beating Edmonton, we just need to win one game against BC to get to 15 wins and set a new team record. Wideleft 1

I’m sure the boys aren’t even thinking about that. One game at a time. Right now their job is to prepare to take care of business against Edmonton. Bigblue204 1

The 2001 stats are actually really comparable: https://www.statscrew.com/football/stats/t-CFLWPG/y-2001 https://www.bluebombers.com/team-stats/

O2L Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 23 receiving TDs, my god. And I remember back then 5k passing yards didn’t guarantee you would be league leader. It was a different time. wbbfan and Bigblue204 2

It was a different time. Yeah, that was some good ball back then, more downfield passing. Today there's hardly any that's effective, unless you've got Collaros or Rourke at QB. Bigblue204 1

Yup, or they win out and tie the '89 Edmonton team for most wins in a season.

Piggy 1 Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 No comparison IMO. Cept maybe a kicker who gets"kicked" around for missing big kicks........ I don't wanna ever feel that let down again.
wbbfan Posted October 3, 2022 Report Posted October 3, 2022 01 team had a better defense. 01 team had bigger stars. This team, is a winner. Easily a better unit today. The 01 team was less than the sum of its pieces. This team is more. GCJenks and Eternal optimist 2

I think the depth was still pretty good but they performed like mercenaries. Not like a team. I mean you have soo many guys on that team that are all time bests at their position for the team. Best of their position that team vs this team would be mostly 01 guys.
