We should bring back darvin adams to be the short yardage qb.
I’d look at guys like demski and Augustine see if they can take snaps from center and execute short yardage.

That won't happen because it takes away the possibility to execute the rest of the offence. They always want that in their back pocket.

Just give ‘em the old darvin adams toss lol. Makes the sleeper plays twice a deadly.

I’m a little surprised Darvin Adam’s is still a free agent. He had a nice bounce back year.. nearly 1000 yards and 15 yards a catch. At worst he is still a good jump ball receiver, and an excellent blocker.. if we weren’t absolutely loaded at receiver I wouldn’t mind him being here as the 4th or 5th option.

Yeah. It was high useage on a bad offense but he is still a solid 5th. Might not be willing to take the kind of money it’d require to keep playing though.
Also a great locker room guy and leader. If he signed cheap enough I’d actually take him right now. He’d qualify as a naturalized ni for us and give us depth along side boo behind woli and demski.

I personally think if we had had Darvin last year in the GC he might have made the difference and woken some of those guys out of their slumber.  That guy definitely has the FIFO mentality.

Can never know now, but he certainly did perform well in the biggest games here. Who knows what that salary and roster spot would’ve cost us though.

Personally, I wouldn't want either guy doing short yardage. Rather have a 3rd string guy in there doing it. That being said, I still think we see Prukop back this season.

I don’t expect Prukop back here. He can do short yardage but you can easily find a big mobile qb rookie who can do that at any time.  I don’t think he’s shown he can develop as a passer at all and while he can run he’s not at all dynamic at it.

Alex mcgough I believe is still on our nl about as mobile and doing much better in the usfl.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope of getting McGough. There was an interview with Kyle a couple years ago stating that they really like McGough but he isn't very interested in the CFL. Things can change, of course, as opportunities dry up but I think as long as one of the USFL or XFL will hire him that is where he will go.

I think you are vastly under rating Prukop's ability to run. He is a very dynamic runner and it won't be that easy to find someone as good as him at it. I do agree that he contains no upside as a potential starter, but Kyle W has indicated he doesn't really care about that and wants a specialist at 3rd string. Prukop is as good as it gets as a specialist.

It was time to move on and go younger. I like Darvin a lot, but he was starting to decline in production and reliability. Hard to argue the Bombers did the wrong thing when the move opened the door for Schoen.

think we can officially lock this thread, eh? As of today, we can officially move on.

I suppose....although I would argue the start of main camp would be the time to do it as we will be releasing a bunch of guys prior.

we have a Rookie Camp/Pre-Season thread for a reason. '22 is done. Lock this up.

I would argue that rookie camp is still an audition for many for main camp. A great number will be released and it is still just an audition for a camp spot at this time.

Not surprised he was a high touted guy. But iirc usfl also pays peanuts. I’m not crazy high on mcgough, he’s more the water mark for performance in the usfl for me. I’m hoping for Randall Cunninghams kid.
I feel like big  (cfl big) athletic running qbs aren’t hard to find. An awful lot of guys get stuck between rb/wr and qb from hs to small ncaa schools.

he is effective at running, but he isn’t particularly quick fast or powerful. Oregon was the preeminent option, zone read, running qb school when he was there. 170 yards and 3.2 ypc. He had 1 good rushing year at Montana state and couldn’t even follow that up. Bryant the concerted wr from last year wasn’t much shorter and far more dynamic and a college qb with more production.

I kind of get wanting to have a running threat at short yardage and I love a running qb as qb3 maybe a holder etc too. Adds a lot of options and threat to various packages that can make a big difference in a game. I just think prukops running is replaceable.
