He was a cop stationed in Northern BC, teamed up with a local pizza owner and founded BP As per wikipedia and what Jim has said when he was on Dragon's Den... Quote Boston Pizza began in Edmonton, Alberta, on August 12, 1964, when four Greek immigrants, Trifon, Gus, Perry, and Ninos Agioritis opened Boston Pizza and Spaghetti House. By 1970, Boston Pizza had 17 locations in Western Canada, 15 of which were franchised. One of the first franchisees was Jim Treliving, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer who lived down the street from the original location and was a regular customer.[1] In 1968, he noticed the growing popularity of Boston Pizza and purchased the rights to open a restaurant in Penticton, British Columbia. While in Penticton, he met George Melville, a chartered accountant. He acted as Treliving's business consultant for four years, and, in 1973, became Treliving's business partner. Over 10 years, they opened 16 restaurants in British Columbia.

Just read the book Once again on the official Boston Pizza web site they say the opposite of what you are saying. Also tonnes of videos of him saying that he was a franchisee and eventually bought the company out later on.

I remember in the 70's there were a few scattered B.P. in Wpg. that disappeared shortly after they opened, the last one standing was on North Main in W. Kildonan and it wasn't doing well. I think Treliving probably bought the rights to the name in bankruptcy and rebuilt the franchise from scratch. Tracker 1

17to85 Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 BPs used to be an ok place for easy inoffensive food to take a family but I have found the "quality" is way down in recent years and the price is just always up and up and up. Wanna-B-Fanboy, rebusrankin and HardCoreBlue 3

You don't like frozen dough and most of the dishes being flash frozen and heated up and then paying a premium price? We only go to BP because of the kids and when they have the free kids meals deals... but even with the kids for free it's super pricey. The larger pizzas are priced at 30 - 40 dollars when Dominos is basically selling the same thing for 10 dollars. I much prefer going to the local eateries where it's cheaper and actually freshly made.
