He’s nowhere near fast enough to be a returner in this league. To put his athleticism into perspective, his 40 time would’ve been dead last at the NFL combine for receivers by almost .2 seconds. Would’ve only beat one tight end. No linebackers. No corners. No safeties. Even the punter who ran the 40 this year was faster than him. TBURGESS, Noeller and JCon 3

Yep, he was. And he could be like some of our early 2k ni Wrs Howell and drover etc. able to play any teams and back up other positions. Grant is maybe the best kr in the league, but I think Cole and Henry will put up a real battle. They are both explosive play makers with the ball in their hands. I expect the best battle we’ve seen at kr in a long long time. Both are more offensive players who return kicks as well. I think one or both with be sticking with us for a while. guys like that with top notch athleticism are hard to come by. 4 minutes ago, Mike said: Amen. While that’s true, the same could be said for most of the wrs who started for us the last couple years. 1 really good 40 that scouts considered and outlier. Lots of guys like lawler running high 4.7s.

I'm not a huge fan of undersized DE's. However, in limited deployment he could certainly add a wrinkle to our D that would give DCs something to think about and very much a change of pace for any OL he lines up against. Would take them out of rhythm that's for sure. 12 minutes ago, Mike said: Amen. Yea....I think his very top end would be if he could be a JFG type player in this league. I doubt he would make the team in any kind of specialist role. He would have to demonstrate himself as adequate depth with really good ability as a ST plumber. I quite honestly don't see a scenario where he makes the team. Not a knock on him...just the reality that he is trying to crack a stacked roster against long odds. Edited May 12, 2023 by GCn20 Bigblue204 and Tracker 1 1

I’d also get rid of the big wordmarks above the numbers that every team has. That being said, Bombers still have the best uni sets in the league and it’s not close. Noeller and Bigblue204 1 1

For guys like Montford and walls length and explosive power and quickness played larger than life. Another 5–10 lean lbs would be an asset no doubt. But being tall and 245+ isn’t as important Imo. Especially if you rotate dl. we signed another nose tackle today so I’m guessing it’s true that obg isn’t reporting. Caleb thomas is even more athletic though and with a better pedigree. Hopefully he can be a stud. Bigblue204 and Tracker 2

LOL....love to see all that experience we have on board to mentor the QB's on this team. Any other team in CFL have that kind of QB coaching depth? All we are missing is Khari and Dunigan out there helping out and we'd have the Bombers QB legacy complete. Maybe we can get Dieter up here for a few days of camp too lol... Noeller and Tracker 2

Mike Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 There’s a difference between talking about a guy who runs a 4.86 40 who returned kicks in a Canadian junior football league and a guy like Lawler (who actually ran a 4.64) who competed at the D1 level successfully. The athleticism isn’t even comparable. 4.86 as a receiver or returner is … bad. No matter how you try and shape or frame it, that’s not good speed. To put it into perspective … he runs a closer 40 yard time to Liam Dobson than he does to Janarion Grant. Jesse and Noeller 2
sweep the leg Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 Is that what he runs now? I saw his 40 time in highschool was 4.74, but that was on his hudl bio, so who knows lol 4.86 might not be top 10 for MB highschool players. My son put up a better time, and he's not at the top.

Personally I love having more than one on the roster. Especially having 2 back on kick offs. With the other two being versatile be/wr types that can work though not very likely with a di spot on a kicker. Still I think one or both will kick around and get a shot to play offense at some point. 1 hour ago, Mike said: There’s a difference between talking about a guy who runs a 4.86 40 who returned kicks in a Canadian junior football league and a guy like Lawler (who actually ran a 4.64) who competed at the D1 level successfully. Not true of a junior kid up here. Dobsons 5.3 vs grants 4.56 best. If he went to a combine pre event like Chris carter used to run (fast, idk if it’s still open) he’d easily be down to a high 4.6 low 4.7. simonise was pretty close to his score with out the junior success and with more track polish.
