Hypothetically, what kind of picks could you get for Brown's rights?

Good question. What could they get for Collaros? What is the least risky way to staff?
Was the Andrew Harris decision to let him go an indicator of how a top level franchise operates? Brady exceeded the wildest expectations.

I don't think any team gives Brown a starting job or starting salary.

Ottawa could dump Mazoli, sign Brown to compete for the starting job and use the savings to upgrade the rest of the team.

Riders could dump Harris, sign Brown to compete for the starting job and use the savings to upgrade their O line.

Montreal could dump Faj-jj... etc.

Hamilton could dump BLM... etc.

Edmonton will continue with Ford as he gave them hope this year.

Stamps will continue with Maier as he got better in the 2nd half of the season.

IMO, the most likely spot is Ottawa where Dru would get the most money and have the easiest route to starting.

Certainly hope your right. That would leave him in the same position as if he remained a bomber behind an uninjured Collaros.

I’m not sure Wally could resolve the Collaros/Brown dilema with 100% confidence.

If Arbuckle got 32 chances to become a starter teams will be looking at Brown. Remember the Bombers post Kevin Glenn era? It was rough and we were desperate for many years. All those teams you mentioned Brown would instantly be the best QB on their roster

Arbuckle got a ton of chances and never lived up to his 'potential'. He's the perfect example of why you don't give a young QB a starting job with a bunch of money. You give them a chance to compete for the starting job, a lowish base salary with a bunch of bonuses for being THE guy.

I disagree that Dru would be the best QB on most of those teams.

Even if that’s true. What could we offer Brown? He’ll at the very worst get 1 B money else where.

Wonder what would happen to the Brown market if in January Streveler says he will sign with a CFL team.

Sure would make for an interesting off season. If we lose brown, get strevy and a new developmental young passer id be pretty happy. Id also be happy if he came back on a reasonable deal  but I don’t see that happening.

Imo as high as a 2nd or late 1st for the rights to talk to brown.
For Zach, his value would exceed what a team could send with out making them self worse.
Iirc the corpse of drew Willy got us the no1 overall pick, a 3rd rounder and another first for them signing him and heath.

For collaros I wouldn’t take less than a Canadian starter with upside, two or three firsts/ rights to former first round talent in the nfl, and a reasonable imp roster guy with up side.

If Strev was to come back next yr, With the 2qb rule being on field together I'd offer him a fair deal, as 1B but also an incentive laden one for TD's ...Yards....etc...And use him at same time...TE on big packages...2 RB set...where you dont know if he will run or pass....Use the heck out of him...Short Yardage specialist......You could effectively replace JA...Jackson and Prukopp salaries with Strev....get 2 firt yr entry level guys to fill the roster spots of Jackson and Auggie, and also wouldnt have to waste a DA spot with Jackson who offers nothing that anyone else could...thats what I would do

Given that Dru is likely to sign elsewhere, I hope Walters still has Streveler's  phone number.

when he is reay...Likely this spring...He will be contacting us first and foremost and give us every chance to get a deal done before he looks elsewhere if it doent suit him

Well we know this isn't what happens when you have 3-4-5 teams involved.  Arbuckle was simple because there were two teams in the QB market and one of them wanted the veteran.

The only other person who will be a free agent and is a potential starter is Dane Evans.  Based on recent performance, everyone's top choice will be Brown.

There's pretty low level risk for teams like Sask, Ottawa, Calgary when their current starters can't win a game.

It's not like we're talking about dumping a productive vet for a younger guy anywhere but here.  Everyone else's QB situation is awful outside of Winnipeg and Toronto.

Caleb and Dane Evans are both in the 90s base, could earn up to 155ish, Dane Evans a touch more but he's nowhere near most of his incentives.

Shiltz has a higher base with less incentives.

Say Calgary dumps Maier and Dru Brown wants to go there.  They are out $105,000 in 2024 if they have to cut Maier straight up, but realistically they can probably trade him because his base is only $210,000 with some incentives and roster bonuses on top of that.

If Ottawa loses out on Brown grabbing someone like Maier to compete with Crum and Adams (both on rookie deals) would be a no-brainer.  Basically replace Arbuckle with Maier, a little more cap eaten but not much.

For BC, Adams is signed through next season with no guaranteed money.  Easy for them to move on and grab a guy like Dru Brown for 3 years if this post-season goes nowhere for them.

Hamilton, BLM has a $175,000 bonus January 15 on a $540,000 base and no guarantees.  They'll be pulling the plug on that deal.

There's a high probability of a QB carousel this year because of how bad QB play has been and how dissatisfied many teams are with their options.

Dru Brown will have his pick of teams.  The Bombers have leverage to let Brown negotiate early for compensation which will be important for teams that need to move out another guy either by release or trade to avoid bonuses.

Dane Evans is hot garbage.  I really hope he ends up in Saskatchewan.

Didn't see anything that would make me think Bailey won't be on the field after a 15 day layoff.

I thought it looked like he grabbed for his hamstring, but then I wondered if it was something else. Don't they usually grab kind of middle of the back of the leg??

DB's comfortability in the pocket as it's collapsing captures my attention not to mention his vision to use his legs when need be.

Not sure if comfortability is in the dictionary, but I totally agree he looked good, and seemed very calm.

Realistically, it's Ottawa, Hamilton, or Regina and any of those teams could decide to just keep their vet QB instead.

Shultz & Evans both have way more experience which means they are less risky to move forward to #1.

How do you guys feel about RIchmond?? I think we've been hanging onto him as we think he may be Bryant's replacement. Personally I thought he looked rusty at times,

Considering he hadn't played an actual real game in over 3 yrs that wouldn't be surprising

He looked good overall...high high ceiling and given an opportunity to start would be just fine

Willie Jefferson broke Evans in the 2019 cup.

A bit of rust I guess. Hard to tell, but from yesterday he wouldn’t look out of place. Especially given a full camp with the 1’s.

Experience being a loser and turning the ball over is pretty damn risky to move forward with.
