If they keep him...and allow him change to earn it...then that's lots of scratch taken up in SMS...so no way they can sign Brown for anything more than we could...and if it's close..why leave and forgo pretty much guaranteed playoff money?

Fly in the ointment for all of this is what Strev is doing....if he has exhausted all his NFL options like it appears...and none will be coming next yr...then there is competition for $$ there

Both Masoli and Harris are going to hang on as long as they can, how else are they going to make $500k in one year, BLM showing them the ropes on how to maintain the cash flow.

Sure sounds like Ottawa is thinking about Brown, which other QB would they potentially go after?  Burke and Dyce have one more year to right their ship, don't think they'll gamble their future on existing backups, Schiltz or Dane Evans.

"General manager Shawn Burke indicated that he and head coach Bob Dyce told Masoli that he won’t enter next season as the unquestioned starter despite being under contract with Ottawa on a deal worth a maximum of $508,000. The club’s plan appears to be dependent upon what other teams around the league do this off-season, though it’s clear Masoli will have to fight for the starting job if he remains with the team come training camp.

“We’ve communicated to Jeremiah that the situation will be a bit different than previous years and he understands that. What I promised him in terms of communication is once I know exactly what it will be, he will be informed and we’ll talk it through and see what happens,” Burke told TSN 1200."

Both can try to hang on. I'm expecting it won't be either of their decisions whether they're playing or not.

I wouldn't expect Strev to accept a role as a 3rd down specialist, if he comes back at all he'll be looking for more of an opportunity to start, which rules out the Bombers.  Any team paying a QB $500k won't have much left over to pay their backups.

To me, Masoli's only hope is to sign somewhere as a backup and wait for an injury.  But for like 90k and incentives.

Kind of wonder if he might look to the XFL.  There's no way Ottawa doesn't cut him.

I agree, they'll cut him loose as soon as the opportunity presents itself, doubt he makes it to camp and a chance to compete.

I actually forgot about that aspect of it, when will he even be ready to start competing again? He went down in July?

Likely Labour Day if being realistic so out for more than half of next season.  He isn't exactly known for being a quick recovery or gym rat type.

when he cane back this yr he actually looked like a Buffet Table type tho...That extra tonnage didnt help with any lower body injury prevention

I need a new knee, and my surgeon said I didnt need to be 275 anymore...so dropped 30 lbs and hardly notice it now....so have delayed any surgery
