The last 3 drafts haven't been particularly stellar for any teams. We are losing way too much of our top end draft talent to the NFL now. rebusrankin 1

We spent the last 3 drafts picking teams guys with little to show for it. our best teams guys consistantly last year from what I saw was Kelly..Cole...Cadwalder...Bolo....Gauthier....I exclude Exume from his work after getting here because he is gone now and is a under appreciated big loss And yup...draft strategy failed last several drafts now for quality team depth, and we need to shift the mindset.....I have said before you can make anyone a good teams player....you cant make a good teams guy a useful rotational guy/back-up If we keep all these picks this yr, focus should be on the best players on the board and not just these one trick pony guys, as it has severly depleted our quality of depth... I don't see Murphy amounting to much here, or really offering us much either other than a guy to stand on the sidelines....and not see a rep for the next several yrs if e keep him...now looking back at last few seasons mybe he does have a purpose as we have shown a penchant for dressing guys who didnt even need thier shoes tied up Piggy 1 1

Need to look at the stats before making comments,, Hallet led team in st tackles. ly, clements had 6 ,and only 4 the previous yr. Ford In his rookie season had 10 st tackles. Exume is good but was also cut by mtrl midseason wbbfan 1

You know not every position on a cover team is “guy whose primary job is make every tackle”, right? You know there are no tackles to be made on plays where our guys are helping block for OUR returner, right? wbbfan, Jesse, JCon and 2 others 5

Just responding to the players that were named in terms of their contribution Everyone has a role, but if you point at exume and clements being gone means we are going to be bad,, back it up. Of importance also is that we are replacing st coach to address some of those shortfalls
Jpan85 Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 The most important person is the person who has the contain responsibilities. Force the returner into coverage. When the Bombers were at their best on SP, they had guys who were disciplined and did not chase tackles but stuck to their jobs. JCon, wbbfan, BigBlueFanatic and 3 others 3 3
rebusrankin Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 So who should we be hoping for with our three top 20 picks?

Kick cover is one role in teams which has a lot of different sets and roles. Wes lysack was leading the league in tackles here in his last season. We cut him mid season. Tackles are not a success indicator. Not on teams not on D. 1 hour ago, Pete said: Just responding to the players that were named in terms of their contribution Everyone has a role, but if you point at exume and clements being gone means we are going to be bad,, back it up. They aren’t great or the best at any thing. 29 minutes ago, rebusrankin said: So who should we be hoping for with our three top 20 picks? It's like every draft starts with 2nd round talent now outside of maybe the top 1 or 2 picks. 1 hour ago, wbbfan said: Cleveland browns are the most successful franchise in modern sports history. Even for guys you’ve seen every single snap of, or that top level scouts have, there is a good 80% crap shoot on rookies. Some guys can do stuff and show it at other levels, in other leagues, or even other cfl teams and not replicate that success after a team change. A great example is the scout who suggested drafting Albert pujols in baseball. Late pick super low opinion of him pujols got him run through the wringer for those opinions despite him getting drafted. And he had a hof career. Some times it’s competition level, athleticism, work ethic/preparedness, or desire or a bunch of other things. A guy I was super sold on was Fred Otis amey a sac state wr. Saw soo many of his games and games in the conference. But he just didn’t get it done. All you can do is look at what a guy can do at the level/team/league they left and project how they would fare if they can execute here. Some times they will, some times they won’t, and some times a guy drastically over achieves and makes it look easy like schoen. Every one who watched any of schoen from games to highlights was excited about him coming into camp. No one thought he’d instantly own the league. Barrett last year looked like a blue chip lber prospect came in and looked totally lost in pre season.

Looks like he has tons of talent and potential. Also looks like a gamer. Top 10 pr player is an interesting accolade. Some guys tear it up in practice and camp. David kircus a wr with the lions was that guy for like 3-4 years. Looked like a world beater in practice. Didn’t get a ton of shots when he did was ok. Certainly fits the flashy talent. Lacking size and athleticism isn’t easy. He’s a lot like McKnight but also the exact opposite talents while also being a poor testing small guy. Could really blow up in rookie camp. WinnipegGordo 1
