Just keeps hanging around. Clearly he isn’t a fraction of what he used to be and they don’t and can’t trust him to start. Never liked him as a player love him in the booth. Kind of an odd situation. I feel kinda sad for him. All the heart and desire, used to be a star qb and he just keeps trying to recapture the past glory.

he is truly awful, but he's basically the same guy as Prukop. If for some reason Prukop doesn't come back, then he could be the short yardage specialist..... but he's not a guy that's ever going to be a starting QB of ANY quality in this league.

yeah pretty much. If it’s prukop type money and his role it’s fine I guess. Suitor would be soo torn about drooling over him.

Doesn’t matter where they come from lmao a teams ability to use a guy doesn’t change if he sits on another teams pr before he’s signed, or plays some place else first. Shake your goofy head.

Ugh...

Dunbar was released. I posted he'd be adequate replacement should Schoen leave.

Someone else said, they'd rather the team went with a pure rookie/rookie type of money contract.

I disagreed saying the club has not been great at bringing in rookie WRs who produce immediately.

You chimed in, talking about wrs the bombers signed in FA (which is exactly what I want them to do) thinking you were disproving a point I made. However, you actually confirmed what I was saying.

Cornelius in the Prukopp role might be ok but not really a fan at all.

BLM will be great in the booth when he retires.

Very pointed up side in that move imo

This is giving Prukop too much credit. Even though Cornelius has struggled with his mental processing in the CFL, he's much more talented as a passer. He has a very strong arm and has flashed capable starter ability at times. Prukop, on the other hand, scares me when doing anything but running a QB sneak. If we could upgrade from Prukop to Corn as the short yardage backup, that would be a win. Especially if Buck can get something out of him that Chris Jones couldn't.

and I think this is giving Corny FAR too much credit... he's shown nothing other than a strong arm, which I couldn't care less about. Show me you can read a defense AT ALL and maybe we can talk.... but he has never been able to do that. Some of the most mind-numbingly stupid decisions made over and over again.

Never mind that a strong arm is useless if you can't hit the broad side of a barn.

So, is this the new bar for backup qbs in the CFL? A base of around $200,000  with incentives to make more. This move allows the Ti Cats to pursue Dru Brown, I'd think. Likely that Hamilton will be his destination. It would be the best team for him to sign with outside of the Bombers.

Working with an OC that can teach Cornelius how to read defenses would be a huge boost to his career. Cornelius needs a coach that can help him process the info he has from being a starter in Edmonton to becoming a winner. He needs a line that will block for him. He'd get that here from our linemen. He'd get all of that here working with Buck & Zach. Cornelius sure as hell didn't get it working with Jones & McCadoo in Edmonton. Coming here would rejuvenate his career.

Cornelius may have to take a pay cut though. If he's willing to learn.

He's at least as athletic as Prukop; bigger, stronger, faster.

When I looked back at the 3dn reported salaries the cost of back up RBs and QBs tor most teams was stunning.

Strong arm, strong runner tough to bring down in the pocket but yes. Strong arm and running qb athleticism can take you far as a qb. But it won’t take you to being a great starter.

honestly I’m not sure you can teach a pro qb to read and run an offence. If it isn’t in the tool kit by that point I think it could very likely be he doesn’t have that strategic analytical field general mind set.

I also feel the more raw talent and athleticism a qb has, the less they develop the cerebral side. You can dominate games at college and below with out that side. Corny has all that raw package stuff.

That is just a notion of mine though, and even every rule has its exception. It would be very interesting to see though how corny and buck would work together. I think that challenges both of them to do and be better. Not keen on us paying big money for that though.

Elks have signed Macleod Bethel-Thompson.

Strange move for him to sit out the whole last year then come back. What a dumpster fire to walk into as well loool.

Well not too strange if he's been shopping his services for months and hasn't had any takers.  Dumpster fire looks like it was his only option.

Have you forgotten how far Brown has progressed since he became a Bomber in 2021?  Most fans wanted to kick his ass through the goalposts after his first year.

only option and he walks away with 500K, both sides of this equation "desperate eh?"

So another kick in the arse for Ford....He must be mulling over asking for a trade...He feels like he's starter material in this league and has somewhat proven that....Interesting going forward in Elks land and with the signing of the 'space cadet', I think you could safely say there's a qb. controversy in edm.

Not a controversy at all. Jones doesn’t see Ford as the starter and went out and got one.

So they're going to keep a disenchanted qb. on the roster....cuz that's the end result of the MBT signing....I see  Ford being dealt or definitely hitting the road in fa next year
