No. That makes the deal make more sense. Nichols is better, and didn't just sign a new contract, and is still making more.

It is crazy to me that those guys would be anywhere near each other in pay.

But, people do dumb things in free agency.

Once again Farhan dropping contract details on other team’s signings - has he said anything about Stanback’s?

Someone said 160k. Can't remember who.

That would be wild.

It is bizarre that he struggles to get info on the team he covers and yet has the ability to pocket check every other team in the league.

He knows, he just doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds him, IMO. He has no problem throwing out numbers for other teams but doesn't want to make it seem like the Lions are spending wildly so he keeps that under wraps.

I was being sarcastic. Of course  he knows. He just wants every other team’s financials aired out.

it seems to me that would be easier to do when signing with a contender...you pretty much know you're getting play off money...up to $23 000

Also, winning is way more fun than losing. Just ask all the Rider players.

He probably doesn't want to lose his source inside the Lions by releasing confidential info.

If he doesn't get an offer I believe he is under contract.

3 years on an ELC playing for peanuts?  Holm needs to fire his agent, for most DB's 3 years is more than half their playing career.

Yea....I'm thinking he didn't have an agent.

Some decent DL available in Global Draft, mostly nose types.  Hope we take advantage.

If we can grab a guy that can play like 20-25 snaps that would be huge.

Canadian Draft a bit sparse this year when you see the guys coming to combine.  Everyone else after NFL tryouts.  Not many guys in there that will play right away.

Edge guys in Okpoko, Hergott & Brubacher could draw some interest.

Rider's loading up...Carney now...guy would have looked good here.....they trying to buy a one yr turn around and curious still on the Oullette and now Carney numbers, as if they higher price targets too...they will have next to nothing for depth.....I sure hope that we didn't sacrifice defensive help for the big offensive salaries, and that we have a plan/idea that some the new recruits, and a couple holdovers can step up...Hold overs not being Bennett..Thoms...Schmeckle....because if they are the plan, and nobody new steps up or gets a legit shot...we gonna be a hurting defensive unit and will need to throw up 35+ points a game

Thinking our depth on d comes from recruiting players.

Buying wins in FA has never ever been a fruitful strategy. You gotta have solid recruitment to go with it or you are doomed. Riders recruitment has not been good. For every big ticket guy you gotta have someone on the roster playing at a high level on an ELC or else your depth with be dog poo.

oh yeah....can see this blowing up bad...Hardrick wont fix that Oline...The Qb's arent gonna carry a squad....they had zerodepth before, and a lot of their depth guys they had unsigned...all new coaching will take a bit to gel.....this reeks of Oday last stand to try and save his bacon.....cant see it working

I mean it could work if they unearth 5-6 quality starters through recruitment to balance the spending. I just don't see it happening tho.

As it should. For every 200k guy you better turn up a decent player on an ELC or you are in big trouble as a team.

Pass on Jeffcoat, great player just can't stay healthy. Unless he will take a good haircut be a depth guy....which with his talent would be tough.

He doesn't need to be a depth guy, just needs some depth behind him that can take meaningful, impactful snaps.
