BigBlue Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 (edited) Ride em cowboys! "Neither starter Zach Collaros nor veteran backup Chris Streveler will dress this week, leaving the start to Wilson." There won't be any sense of offensive rhythm, that's for sure. Why does it feel like someone is thumbing their nose somewhere. Well I for one like a good joke. So let's have a sense of humour. GO BLUE! PS: I hope our defence gets enough work… Edited May 31 by BigBlue

Atomic Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 Wilson looked competent in the first game, I'm confident he'll have a decent showing. Seems like a smart QB. Huge opportunity for Rivers and Upshaw at DE. In fact lots of good opportunity on defence - I'll be watching LB Moses and Gemmel, DB Bridges and Fuller. On offence I'm most interested in RBs Chris Smith and Rosery, and WR Clercius, Vann, Wilson, Wheatfall, Johnson, and both tackle spots. Still don't think Lofton has that RT spot locked down.
Booch Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 With Wilson I'd like to see more progression from game 1 and if he looks even more comfortable...he settled in nicely as game went on, so hopefully the last week or so of practice really helped him along...Intruiged what Grainger will do with only 5 days here...he has a primo tool kit to work with tho....2 nice prospects none the less Smith I hope locks up that returner job and utility piece for the offence, as well as shows well that he can be a change of pace back...something we been really lacking....I said all along I expect him to impress and be on the roster the day we signed him...so this is his chance to prove it...Rosery is interesting...I can see him being turned into a Demski clone, and I like that prospect... The defence is where I am most interested...Does Adams make the case that 2 import DT's can't be ignored? I think he just may, and Woods as well is no slouch either....Wanna see what River's does with a heavier workload and make a case to be on the PR at minimum....and develop further as I assume Haba and garbutt must be locks for the game day roster barring injury....depending how we allocate our imports technicallly neither need to be a DI The real litmus test, and in my opinion huge decison is the linebackers...I am 100 percent certain Wilson will be one the starters...and 2 yrs removed from achilles should be back to being total Wilson...But who's in the middle....Gauthier is a nice depth piece but time to turn the page and let a new guy grow into it...we have 3 guys who are more than capable with a veteran laden unit we will be putting out there, and there is a good chance we cah dress 2 of Moses/Petrishen/Gemmel...so the time is now. Tre Thomas also deserves a hard serious look....He would be perfect in the role Cole occupied as a DI.... HardCoreBlue, Piggy 1 and wbbfan 2 1
JohnnyAbonny Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 I’ve been looking forward to seeing what Chris Smith can do, a number on here were happy he was signed. He seems like the returner candidate that could add the most value to the offence as a DI. HardCoreBlue and Piggy 1 1 1

Not just a heavier workload but the Stamps are bringing most of their projected starters on offense so he (and the rest of the rookies on D) will be up against legit players and not a bunch of TCF. Goalie Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 (edited) Should be a rule. If you start a game day thread and the team loses (pre or regular season and playoffs) you can’t start another one. Cuz I’m looking at this topic here and it’s 940am and it says it was started 10 hours ago aka yesterday aka not game day. Edited May 31 by Goalie Pepper_Brooks, Noeller, greenrider55 and 2 others 3 2

Blue In BC Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 It's going to be a tough game on both sides of the ball. An entirely new OL, all rookie receivers and 2 rookie QB's. I only see about 8 players that were with the team in any capacity in 2023. A few might make the roster but they may only get a couple of series early to avoid chance of injuries. I think most of the decisions have been made. A few players are still fighting for PR spots and even those are largely locked in. Half the players on the roster will be released and 12 added back to PR ( rough numbers ). So about 30 - 35 will not be with the team in any capacity after this game. Bigblue204 1
Bigblue204 Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 This isn't a test of our offense at all. Outside of the QBs how many starters are playing? 1 or 2?
Goalie Posted May 31 Report Posted May 31 (edited) In reality it might be a test for those of us watching at home to see how long we actually watch for. Nothing to me is more boring than an O that can’t move the ball. I’m gonna stream it (cfl plus) but not sure how long I last. I think I’d consider 14 points by the O a success. Yeah not a test of how well our offense does as a team but (expectations are very low) but the receivers and QB's are going to be tested individually to see who's going to step up and grab a spot on the team. QB3 and Bailey's replacement need to be determined (if the coaches haven't already decided) so that's what I'm looking for. Bigblue204 1

Most decisions have already been made, a lot of players given considerable game time will be cut regardless of their performance, it's just a courtesy to provide them a showcase and the opportunity to put up some pro game film. Exhibit A, Kyle Borsa 2021 pre-season game in Regina. I wouldn't expect miraculous surprises like holding onto 3 Import LB prospects no matter how good they all look, it just isn't viable. Cuts are the decision of the entire coaching staff not only O'Shea, bringing in new players has to be balanced with established players being pushed out the door. Bighill is safe but BA's playing days may be numbered. wbbfan 1

And one is out of position. I think it is a good chance for Wilson to take another step forward like booch said. I'd love to see him do a better job of progressing from his pre snap read, picking up the blitz and moving the pocket or ball quickly to beat it. I'd also love to see a bit more of him using his legs. Liked what he showed in game one, hope he can build off it. Like every one is saying, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what the D brings. Mcghee and Ford seem locked in on the corner spots, Like to see more of them. Seeing what kelly can do at S in some extended reps. The Imp Lbers is the juiciest, who will separate them self? They all looked good last week, but don't have near as much DL talent in front of them this week. Some one is gonna grab a starting job this week. Schmekel can he continue to grow in this big step forward and be a legit rotational piece for us? Samson I thought would be head and shoudlers above schemkel but he's gotta play his way on to the PR imo. Adams, I want to see lots of snaps, and at multiple alignments including some DE. Guy is such a freak athlete if he has a half decent head on his shoulders I'd keep him on the PR at the least for sure. But he could make a big case for carrying 2 imp DTs, and I hope he does. Dobson looked real good at both G and C last week. I look forward to seeing him get a bunch more snaps at C. Wallace was the best interior OL we had last week, super excited to see if he can keep it going. Lofton, hopefully he isn't tipping, and improves when it comes to handling speed. He looked fine when some one tried to bull rush him. Coleman at LT I thought had the best chance to beat out lofton, didn't shine last week be great if he did this week. Really need one of the imp OL to step up this week even if lofton is locked in at RT, we need a back up or two. Smith at RB and KR, I hope he gets lots of touches. Could be a super sub and KR as a DI which would add even more depth to an incredible offense. Clercius and MCI, one starting and should get a decent amount of reps hopefully mci gets some decent time to carry the ball and block. Stickem and Bigblue204 2

I've seen lots of great ideas on here, (especially from JBR, mike etc) on adjustments to rules and roster. The league and rule change committee seem stagnant. Fresh Ideas might go a long way. Some on line games, and companies do pretty extensive rounds of this bringing customers in house to bounce ideas off of and get core ideas from.

Yeah, even if Lofton wins the spot, I'm sure we'll be keeping at least one import OT on the practice roster as a succession plan for Bryant and insurance against injury. Seems like Coleman is probably that guy, right now. But he might still win the job outright. wbbfan 1

The much lauded Drew Richmond might be convinced to come out of retirement and sit on the PR for the season if he's convinced Lofton has safely locked up the ORT job and he'll never have to play.

The streams biggest issue was the rider announcers tho. But tonight. If it’s T storms like expected that equals delays which means off it goes. It’s honestly not that important. Half these guys are getting an apple and a road map after the game. 39 minutes ago, Mike said: Thank you for your suggestion.
