Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

What I haven't heard in a minute is the "Trying To Go 1-0 Each Week" thing. Obviously we're losing that battle pretty badly, but y'know... Baby steps.

All last week I wasn't looking forward to the Calgary game one bit. For whatever reason I'm optimistic about Ottawa at Fort Hew.... I'm counting down to Friday.

She’s not driving in for games. She’s not a member of the ticket buying public. That’s for sure since she’s working at the restaurant bar casino pot shop grocery store combo store pretty much every day. There are ppl who drive in, lots for sure. Trust me this girls not one of them.

Maybe she lurks on here and follows the team obsessively. Maybe she drives up for the Banjo bowl every year and watches every other game on TV.
How would you know?

I mean, first of all who cares? I’m just interested about your thought process there. That’s a lot of random assumption.

That’s just it. Ottawa is in a better place moving forward at QB than most of the league.

BC- Adams probably is at his ceiling, Proukop isn’t going to take the next leap.

Calgary- McCheese and his even fatter backup.

Edmonton- MBT is what he is. Ford could improve I guess.

Us- Hinges on Strev. Not much of a future with Collaros.

Sask- Same as here minus Streveler.

TO- I think Dukes is quite impressive given the situation. I can’t stand Kelly, but he’ll probably be back too. They’ll be ok at QB for a while.

Montreal- They’re  in good shape as well.
Has anyone mentioned that Fajardo’s play improved after a year of working with Calvillo? I think that’s been very overlooked.

Hamilton- Powell might be good, completely unproven. BLM is more cooked than Collaros.

Then Ottawa with Brown and Crum. If I’m building a CFL team from scratch, I’ll take their QB room over anyones right now. Problem there is, the rest of the team being scratch.

We'll have to see how Dru Brown fares in Ottawa. I was among those who badly wanted to keep him over Collaros. But that 3 year deal Walters gave Collaros in 2022 made keeping Brown in Winnipeg next to impossible. He wanted (and deserved) to be a starter somewhere. If I'm Walters (or whoever is GM next season) I'd make getting Brown back in Blue & Gold a priority in 2026. Depending on how Strey does, of course.

I for one, am not surprised that we're moving towards the "Who's a true fan?" conversation again.  We didn't have it too often during the good years, so this is yet another signal about how far we've slid.  Of course, being 0-4 should have been a good clue, but this simply confirms it.

Yeah. This is the crabbiest it’s been in a very long while. We need a win around here big time.

Oddly, every loss is starting to numb my reaction them. As a fan who takes losses personally, I am finding I am starting to get over them a lot quicker each week. Which is healthier for me, I guess.

Once I get to PVR and skip through territory, that is when the team should start to worry. Not there yet... ;)

we needed these losses to be honest....and a couple more would't hurt either...as if we squeeked by with some wins....zero would have...or will be changed and we get to playoffs to only get smoked out...again...for all the same issues...and are just even further behind in making the transitions and hard decisions

I mentioned this a few weeks ago. That Montra was used a lot when osh was rebuilding a team

I think he needs to go back to what he was then.

Yeah this is probably better in the long run than win one, lose one.

2008 was like that. They started 1-6 but they won a home game going into an August bye that kind of pushed off changes being made.

It took being swept by the riders in the home-and-home, then they made a few moves, too little too late. Ended up hosting a playoff game in the weak east at 8-10 but got embarrassed by a crossover Edmonton team. Low key one of the saddest Bomber games I’ve ever been at.

I don’t nail all my comparisons, but this season feels SO much like 2008.

I remember being at that game and having Edmonton fans sitting next to us who said they were hoping for a loss so they'd see changes and while I didn't want a loss, I wanted changes.

That was the weirdest playoff game. Noon start on a Saturday. Crazy icy snowstorm the night before. Stands iced over.
I remember watching Kevin Glenn toss picks, incompletions and skipping pass off the turf while whoever our OC was at the time refused to run the ball, then watching Ricky Ray complete 86/88 for 200 yards to their RBs.

Icing on the **** cake was seeing Glenn throw a 2 yard out on 3rd and 8 to end the season and Stegalls career.

Me and my brother attended that game. The 2 bottles of Jameson we snuck in kinda numbed the pain......

We owe Collaros 250k guaranteed next year, I can’t see us being in the market for a QB like Rourke with that bill hanging over our heads

Only way to escape it is thru a trade, not the worst idea ever conceived.

They talk about it a lot, but it is impressive that the Ricky Ray pipeline in T.O. churned out Collaros, Harris, Fajardo & MBT. I like the looks of the 2 we have brought in behind The Chad too. Seems probable that Dukes has a future in our league, I wouldn't put it past Scott either. He looks to be a player.
