This is a good question. Justin Lawrence in Montreal, Sean mcewen in Calgary, and couture in bc are the class of the league. When healthy, couture is the guy I’d pick on game day. Lawrence is the guy I’d take to go into a season with. I’m a bit biased towards couture. He’s soo good at making guys around him better. Lawrence heads up vs a pass rusher is better. Couture was not the most imposing....but was technically sound and always made right calls Bigblue204, wbbfan and Tracker 2 1

But you’re right he certainly did take a bit of a step back. I think Dobson needs to take a step forward next year. He hasn’t gotten down field in run pro enough, or washed guys out crossing his face enough yet. I think he will turn that corner and become that guy. It’s slower than I thought he would be or should be. Though playing next to a turnstile can hurt or help development some guys step up and do more. Some guys struggle with doing too much, and others give up easy on plays. Kola along with Jake is a guy who we badly need to be rid of. Wallace is a giant threat imo. But I think neuf will retire and Wallace will take his spot next year. I would actually give him practice and pre season reps at RT. He played that spot in college, and despite still being a bit heavy this year his mobility has been very very good. I think we are too quick to send all ol prospects to G and not give them time at rt. At worst, you have a back up who can shift over in case of injury. If it works out and you can go 4 ni ol, that’s massive. Gray should’ve been a RT too. We might still lose Dobson tbh. He's from the north east, so the Ontario teams are close to home, he’s been starting here, his pedigree and athleticism are top tier for a Canadian. He isn’t Desjarlais and won’t get that money, but some one could well over pay him as a starter in hope he turns into a Drew with them. Suspiciously missing from this thread is Tui Eli. He was touted as the center in waiting we have been hoping for and a dominant lineman, yet, apart from the odd outing as the 6th lineman in dire passing or short yardage downs, he has sat a lot. What the heck happened? Did he piss someone off?

Noeller Posted November 3 Author Report Posted November 3 Someone said to me recently that they thought Eli had lost weight and was maybe not strong enough to out-man the DL opposite him. I don't know enough to know if that's accurate.

17to85 Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Let me give my thoughts on why kolankowski plays centre instead of Eli.... kolankowski can only play centre, Eli can backup all the interior positions AND given how often our offense uses 6 OL, Eli can play that position where kolankowski can not. So in the world Mike O'Shea lives in where there are no backups, everyone is a starter, he doesn't view Eli as the backup offensive lineman, he sees him as the starting 6th OL and they just have offensive looks where that position doesn't play. Roster management has been an issue for Oshea since day 1 and anyone who doesn't see it is putting their head in the sand. Great coach, wouldn't want anyone else, but his roster management needs to improve. rebusrankin, JohnnyAbonny and BigBlueFanatic 1 2

Remember Josh Johnson starting soo many games this year? Biggie? Jake? I could go on. Simple fact is, best player doesn’t play or start. 4 hours ago, 17to85 said: Let me give my thoughts on why kolankowski plays centre instead of Eli.... kolankowski can only play centre, Eli can backup all the interior positions AND given how often our offense uses 6 OL, Eli can play that position where kolankowski can not. Roster management has been an issue for Oshea since day 1 and anyone who doesn't see it is putting their head in the sand. Great coach, wouldn't want anyone else, but his roster management needs to improve. Certainly part of the reason why. We’ve made double changes like this to ensure we don’t end up with out a 2nd centre many times. Even though we’ve never actually ended up with an out of position centre in the modern era, and Dobson can play it in a pinch too. Kola also gets the loyalty, and is never hurt. It’s possible the whole Eli missing a gc and a season over a jab is an issue. Eli has also been banged up atleast once this year. They may not trust his health as an every down C. Even when he was forced in at guard twice this year we swapped back on the next series when linemen didn’t come back to move other positions around and keep Eli on the bench. Even throwing in Wallace to g as a rookie. Another thing is we value the 6th, 7th ol, and fb a great deal more than any other team. (Which is not wrong and I’m not saying it is). They look at 6th ol as a starter. Short yardage blockers are worth a di to the mafia. That’s huge. Where it’s wrong, if you don’t trust Eli physically or other wise giving him a 3 year deal after sitting a year is un acceptable. You don’t need a bench C when you have a G who can shift over. Good snaps, staying healthy, etc does not counter the inability to block any one 1on1, or being able to deal with cross face, twists, stunts, etc. I fully believe that the fact kola has very seldom muffed a snap (2-3 times here max) is a difference maker. I think mos is more scared of terrible snaps than he is of kola turnstiling inside. 2 hours ago, Bigblue204 said: I have hope for that as well. But I thought thus would be his year too.... Yeah I get that, me too. I also hoped that Lawson would replace Jake too. When Eli is in he’s a road grader. He hasn’t past the mustered at guard. Often times it takes an injury for a boys club guy to be replaced. No matter the performance level. And kola simply has not been hurt here. Guys a tank. WildPath 1
HardCoreBlue Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 A few games ago when they interviewed MOS right after the game and hearing him dedicate his admiration for JT (200 CFL games or something) I really think it brings great enjoyment for MOS seeing JT on the field continue to play the game he loves. JT is his type of player, unsung hero type. Unfortunately this blinds him from JT bring past his expiry date. Piggy 1, wbbfan and Noeller 2 1

If you really wanna lose your mind, remember we’ve rolled with an extra ni on D for a huge amount of the snaps this year. Late, it’s been ni S for Alexander. We didn’t use that to swap another ni for an imp. We could’ve gone with out an ni on the dl, or gone with an extra imp on the ol. Which would’ve helped a ton. Noeller 1

Other teams aren’t handicapping them self. Is Danny maciocia doing that? Other teams have to add an ni for an imp due to injury they make use of that imp else where.

No it's not apples to oranges... we have a **** ton of options for Canadians and don't need a defensive tackle. Using your appeal to authority the coaches are smarter than the rest of us so if Jake gets the most reps he must be the best defensive lineman. Noeller 1
