Didn't deny he might want to get back into coaching eventually though. if you're an older career coach like LaPo (54 years old) you can't stay away from coaching too long as the perception would be the game has passed you by. His future as a HC is probably over. Only thing left at the CFL level is to be an OC. Plus other younger coaches start to emerge that have bright futures as well so now he's competing with younger coaches which is never good. LaPo's wife married a football coach so she should know how things work. As Elvis once crooned, "It's now or never." The only other alternative is to stay in the media & cover the CFL full time. I hope he stays in the Broadcast booth to grow, to get better and he has great opportunity to carve out a nice career in this field imo. And as important, he can really help strengthen the profile of the CFL to actually talk football, to help the viewer really get into our game, to learn more about it and not just hear sounds bites thrown out, made up story lines and humor suited for an eight year old. Atomic Posted November 15 Report Posted November 15 Buck has earned a shot at being HC and BC is a natural landing spot for him. That's definitely believable. As for our OC... who was the guy we had at the beginning of the new era... Was it Bellefeuille? Ehhh maybe not him.
Noeller Posted November 15 Report Posted November 15 (edited) Fwiw I texted with the guy behind the podcast that's "reporting" it and he says it's a done deal. Crazy that we haven't heard it from Naylor or Farhan first.... I feel like if it were legit they would have said SOMETHING.... Edited November 15 by Noeller rebusrankin 1

They always have a moratorium on big news during Grey Cup week, but it does seem surprising that Buck would have even interviewed for the job before the end of the season. He's got bigger fish to fry at this point. If he does end up going, I would wonder if someone on the Bombers O staff would step into the job like Kevin Bourgoin, Jason Hogan, or Marty Costello. Not sure if any of them would want or are qualified for the OC job, but I would suspect that O'Shea would look there first. Noeller 1

That being said...new blood and or new "old" blood is always welcome and maybe this is a guy like Damon Allen's foot in the door as he has openly expressed the desire to coach...and has history with Osh....and would totally be onboard with that...and for a guy like Strev would be a blessing for his development...dude is only 29.....if you look at ZC..Harris..Burris...Calvillo Dunnigan...Allen...among others...a lot of their best yrs came after 30 so Strev's is by no means out of time.....with Buck here tho he has no hope in hell And would just hate to see him walk....only to see him land somewhere that gets him to the Grey Cup here in 2025...and he will's that team to victory Edited November 15 by Booch Piggy 1 1

Ford has a higher ceiling, the kid from the Als. Adams will be going somewhere. Not here but somewhere.... Winnipeg might be a very attractive place to be if one of these guys knows he only has to wait a year. Plus, can you actually see Streveler earning starter money as QB1? I just can't. Not with his age & mileage on his body. 1 minute ago, Sard said: Do you know anything about the 3 of them, or are you uninspired just because you've never heard of them? I dont want us handing anything anymore....we been there...done that He does deserve and has earned the chance to compete....like legitimately compete...as a QB. Earn your spot and role...maintain it...Is he a guy you can hitch to for 18 games a yr and get it done...we don't know as save for when he first got here he hasnt been used as a actual QB....But he showed he could possibly be....has the arm to make all the throws and isn't a knuckle head by any stretch of imagination. Now maybe he is a guy who is destined to be a superb QB2...can come in as a change of pace if starter is not feeling it....or hurt....A guy who can start and win you games....he has already shown that....and a guy players wlll follow...shown that too....but maybe has just a few things that wont make him elite.....but damn good as your number 2...and spot starter...I'll take that any day But he needs to be allowed to show his QB ability if in camp next yr.....thats when you are able to make the decision to keep or cut bait Noeller 1

Just because one guy (or 1000) failed at being promoted, doesn't mean the next guy will or won't. If you're just basing it on that, I take it you would prefer we recycle an old coach... Not an annointment. Certainly with a new OC I think it would be. Wilson is younger & has some skills so we don't know his ceiling but he has grown a tad as a qb this year. I'd hope we'd try to sign some actual CFL free agent qb talent if we can or keep recruiting. I'm really hoping the UFL folds after this season & some more qb talent becomes available unless the NFL swallows them all up. Yeah, I know my comments are all over the map here. 4 minutes ago, Sard said: We gave O'Shea a shot at HC and look how that turned out. SpeedFlex27 Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 (edited) If Buck left for the Lions, the only solace I would take is that he turned down the Riders (ha, ha ) & he's in another Grey Cup game. How sweet is that?? How can someone like Corey Mace win COTY after a 5-2 start then lose 7 in a row & finish second in the West. Mostly by default as Calgary & Edmonton were so bad. Meanwhile, Osh went 0-4 dealing with injuries at the start of the year, at one point we were dead last in the West. He had to replace Lawler & Schoen who were both out at the same time. Break in a new OL in Lawson, deal with the loss of Stan for 4 games which meant even more juggling on the OL. Then go 2-6 & win their next 9 gamess, shoot up the standings to finish first in the West & are now set to appear in their fifth GC in a row & he wasn't even nominated for COTY????? Like WTF???? There are some pretty stupid media members showing their biases & favouritism covering this league. Especially at TSN. Edited November 16 by SpeedFlex27

bustamente Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 So Mace didn't win COTY, after 5-6 games to start the year a certain TV outlet tried to convince any one that would listen that he had reinvented coaching. I guess he didn't.
