CFL - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

You know, Rourke and Streveler seem to have regressed since returning from down south. Could it be simply that Rourke has no O line pass pro and Strev got nicked early in the season and was limited due to that? Or did the NFL break them both somehow?

Streveler didn't get a chance to do much here this year... how can we say? He was 1-0 as the starter...

Wilson looks like he may have a huge upside to him as a player. I just can't see Streveler back here next season. Rourke is playing & looking confused. Like he's beginning to wonder why the Red Sea isn't parting for him as it did 2 years ago. Meanwhile, the better qb on the team just sits on the bench not playing no doubt planning his escape come February.

I agree about Shivers. But if you read autobiographies and memoirs from players back in the day - it's clear that there was a racial divide.

The problem is Shivers took his hatred & brought it into his job as GM of the Riders. He even took shots at the Stamps & Wally. The guy that gave him his first opportunity in football management & made him Stamps Asst GM. He never kept his prejudices away from his profssional life. Yet everyone else was expected to do that.

He's done great on short yardage... but what huge upside has he shown as a passer?   He's had what, two passing plays and made a high percentage safe completion on one and the other he held onto the ball for a few seconds extra and ended up being sacked.

Wilson looks better than Strev on punching through on 3rd & short. But Strevy always took the B or C gaps on that play - suddenly he's going up the gut and failing - why?For sure Buck didn't give Strev much chance to succeed this year and you wonder why ... I'm guessing Strev was hurt early in the season and was therefore limited. It would have been nice to see if a stint in the NFL improved his throwing but, like you said, he was hardly ever called on to do that. To me, it also appeared that he somehow didn't seem to have the legs he had before.

Everyone is doing same thing to Rourke/BC.  Rush 3, 2 out wide to maintain 1 on 1 vs tackles on edge, one guy at nose, drop 9...sometimes sent a hammer or LB.  Move Rourke off his first read and watch him die a slow death in the pocket.

For whatever reason Pierce decided to play Strev like how LaPo did in Strev's 2nd season.   It was extremely frustrating to see them get "cute" and not let the guy just run normal plays.  In his first season he had zero issues dropping back and tossing mid range/bombs down the field with no trickery.   Also the non stop using him as a bull dozer broke him down the last time and once again did the same this season.  Let the guy roll out and throw on the move... don't try to make him the next Mike Sellers.      It was very very unfortunate how they used him this season and I hope he gets another shot in the league where a team will just let him play as a mobile QB and not a trick play specialist.

It's BC's O Line more than what other teams are doing. Rourke's getting pressure from 2 of the 3 guys rushing before he gets 3 steamboats.

Perfectly stated. Always felt Rourke was a chuck and duck QB when the first read wasn't there.

I've only watched BC when they played the Bombers.  Rourke certainly had adequate steamboats in that game - just did very little with them.

VAJ was doing just fine...with same roster...as they make excuses for Rourkie Poo and his teammates failing him...what a joke

Vaj to Edm I bet...I can see Ford here actually...

Vaj has a guaranteed contract for next year so BC will want to trade him so they aren't on the hook for any of that.  That could open the doors for other teams (Hamilton or Calgary) to take a stab at him.

I think bc will take the best value. Beggars can’t be choosers in the cfl. Most of the league will wait for vaj to get nasty and force a move where bc likely cuts him.

I wonder if tor brings back mbt, or if Calgary brings him in.

I can't see them eating that VAJ guarantee with the contract they gave They already had to drop salary this year to fit Rourke in.

Teams know BC is in a tough spot & something has to give so they won't offer much for VAJ but there will be competition for him.
