What you want is a nice balanced offense that forces a team to defend every part of the field. We used to have that, don't really anymore That was the achilles heel of the offenses quarterbacked by Nichols and Glenn. Opposing defenses did not need to respect the deep ball as a consistent threat. 1 hour ago, Goalie said: only way to explain the play calling He's having nightmares of how to keep the centre off his butt. For sure the timely deep shots had a huge impact on those 2019 playoffs Mark H. and JohnnyAbonny 2

Collaros doesn’t get pressured all game. 8 of 12 55 yards. No td passes in 6 games now is it? It’s not just the centre. Blue-urns 1

Oh yeah he does lol , and he was last year and the year before a lot too. The escapability is gone now, that’s the difference. Noticed after his ankle got buggered in the 22 WF he started turtling in the pocket a lot more. Doublezero 1

Go back and look at the #s qbs put up against our D in it's hayday with the mafia. We had dominant nose tackles collapsing the pocket on the qbs lap, youll see pretty similar stuff. Maybe you can expect that at age 36 with Zach's history of injuries. Reminds me last couple of years of Matt Nichols. Could've made plays ... but didn't. I'll never forget one play near the end of Nichols time here. 3rd & 10 game on the line. Nichols drops back and the middle opens up. He runs up about 5-6 yards into the open field then spots a defender moving towards him. He could have got the first down easily but saw potential contact - slid down at 7 yards. Game over. A 35+ year old simply isn’t going to take the same risks with their body that somebody in their 20s is, it goes against human nature. Bigblue204 1
bearpants Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 gotta wonder where Buck Pierce has gone to... there are still a lot of talented players in this offense... surely we can design something that works to our team's strengths HardCoreBlue 1
3rdand1.5 Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Makes you wonder that all the success we have had and all the next man up....helped create the mess we are in....as an example Buck has been able to plan a certain way consistently...but now we don't have the level of talent we did, and he has appeared to keep trying to plan consistently but all of a sudden it's not working, the next man up can't do it.....and we falter trying the same.....now it's time to see how well he can adapt and change and figure out how to use the actual talent we have and hide the actual weaknesses we have, we do still have playmakers on offence... I get this is a very simplified description, but I believe the root of it is accurate. JohnnyAbonny 1
