Great news from the government banning cellphones in schools for K-8 in Manitoba:

It's about time, and I'm happy to see that the teachers will now have some recourse against the parents who insist that their kid has to have a phone in case they need to get a hold of them while they are in school.

I do wonder why the individual schools and/or divisions didn't take this step on their own before this though.  I feel like they could have but chose not to, even though they knew it was a problem.

I'm very interested to hear from my daughter when she gets back to school on what difference she finds it makes in her class.  It's been a problem for a couple of years with a good number of the kids.  She doesn't have a device herself and has been very frustrated with the other kids.
