JuranBoldenRules Posted October 27 Report Posted October 27 (edited) Our offense was great in that game. Game plan was excellent. Used strength of Montreal D (zone blitz) against them. Collaros had a great game. Lawler needs to make some plays, Wilson was alright, unspectacular. Demski makes some first downs and a big play on a vertical. We don’t have much else at receiver. Bombers consistently brought 6-7 guys inside and burned Als with playaction. They were loaded for run. 2nd half adjustment to just constantly flood half the field tore the Als apart. Only issue was lack of aggression in redzone. Now that might be smart to preserve FG chances, but think you have to give guys chance to make plays. Call some zero read stuff where we basically know where the ball is going coming out of the huddle. Defense was horrible especially vs Fajardo. Only reason they got off the field is if Fajardo missed a throw. A bit more pressure against Alexander who doesn’t move the ball quickly but also burned us on scrambles. They isolated Bonds and our backers and torched them. Bonds really struggled with leverage on Snead, where he wanted/needed to be. They snuck Snead around the field and we could not cover him with anyone, always lose track of him. The only guys on the field who consistently flow to ball on runs/completions are Jones and Holm. Not a fan of Nichols playing deep half/third as much as he did in that game. Basically removed him from the game. Our tackling and recognition are terrible…run a bunch of screens on us we’ll probably give you 20 yards on 2/3 of them. Part of our tackling issue is the stupid tendency of instead of putting a guy down and just tackling him at point of contact we try and pull and rip the ball out...as the pile/scrum just keeps advancing. That and we have guys in second level who instead of wrapping up and tackling...are torpedoeing and just diving at lower body trying to knock feet out from under them ...that needs to be coached out of them Luckily we have Cole..Griffin..Jones now...Nichols...who actually tackle...and where we miss Jamal Parker who was probably our best pure tackler on the team...and luckily saved our bacon taking Rhymes out a few yrs back when Kramdi and Holm whiffed Piggy 1, HardCoreBlue and K-Shack 3

Isn’t the tendency of trying to rip the ball out rampant among all teams? Additionally, the torpedoing and “block” to stop the ball carrier, seem to be the rule rather than the exception. When did these trends become the way to play defence? What is the advantage to playing these trends, reduces injuries? Noeller 1

We seem to be more apt to doing the Rip and tear...I never liked that mindset The lack of practices...padded...and disregard of technique is reason for the piss poor tackling...even tho they pros...u still need the reps

Fatty Liver Posted October 27 Report Posted October 27 2 hours ago, GCn20 said: Both Montreal and Toronto have very good teams and depth. True, the Bombers are still dominant in the West but have fallen behind both the Als and the Argos in talent along both trenches. If these 2 teams were in their division they'd play them more often and recognize the problem clearly after multiple beatings, but as it is they play them once or twice a year and are always surprised when they're unable to dominate the line play, which usually happens in the Grey Cup. Best kept secret, the Als are holding Mustafa Johnson in reserve for the playoffs, he's likely to rip a QB's heart from his chest and eat it at center field! Noeller 1

You could literally take every football game decided by one score ever played and what if each team to a 10 point victory on 2-3 plays. Every what if you trot out a Bomber fan can do the same and argue we should have been up by 4-7 points. No, it's if the Als simply made the correct decision on either of 2 plays, they win. That's not the same as if we'd caught that ball or took advantage in the red zone or if they hadn't called that penalty.

We had 2-3 plays in the game yesterday where if players make the right read/decision they are punting instead of scoring. You are just purposely CHOOSING to ignore the first 57 minutes of a 60 minute game because it doesn't suit your argument. Part of every loss EVER is the opposition making mistakes at wrong time. You keep putting up the 61 yard FG as one such mistake when every KR ever is coached to field a short FG because they often take extremely unpredictable bounces and are a live ball. Earlier this year....may have been game 1 vs MTL actually. Command centre overturned a play because the Bombers had an illegal formation or something. No one on the field noticed it. And the play wasn't a turn over or a scoring play. They just called down and made the refs call a penalty. That int should have immediately been reviewed. JohnnyAbonny and Deiter Fan 2
