Bomber_fanaddict Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 I really hate throwing around the Dynasty word. And to me I don’t think this run is considered a Dynasty just yet. Yes they have had 5 straight successful regular seasons (6 straight west finals) and made 5 straight cup appearances. But most measure success on championship wins. 2 wins in 4 years is great success. But I think they need a win this year to be considered a Dynasty. 3 out of 5 and counting puts them up there with some of the best sports franchises and definitely one of the top team runs in the CFL. A loss this year and it’s 2 out of 5 and 3 straight losses. IMO that’s a bunch or really good teams that just couldn’t finish. Zach Schnitzer and bb1 1 1
Noeller Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 I think the dynasty thing is being skewed by winning the first two and losing the last two. People act like we haven't won at all because they've forgotten about 19/21. This team is without question a dynasty regardless of what happens next weekend. bigg jay, BigBlueFanatic, JCon and 4 others 2 5

17to85 Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 The fact that making 5 straight Grey cups hasn't happened since the edmonton dynasty of the late 70s/early 80s.... that's something especially in this day and age... is this team a dynasty? I don't know and I don't really care... this is a ridiculously special run and we will be old timers sitting around reminiscing about these days. To do what this team has done iover the past 5 years is absolutely worthy of being called a dynasty. It's unprecedented in the salary cap era and we've already set an all-time mark that will be extremely hard to beat. No team had ever been to 4 consecutive GC's with the same starting QB and now Zach is about to add his 5th. Zach Schnitzer, Noeller and bb1 2 1

And they have 3 super bowls in 5 years and 6 AFC championship games in pretty much the same time period as the Bombers. All I’m saying is one more championship to me is a “Dynasty”. I’m not knocking the amazing and historic run they are having and in my lifetime never thought I’d see it. But that Dynasty word just comes with a certain amount of championships won. And hey it’s only my opinion I also do believe that if Covid wasn’t a thing we would be at 3 won and this conversation is totally different. Zach Schnitzer 1

If we got manhandled in those losses it'd be one thing, but 2 losses by a total of 5 points is another. We could/should easily be 4-0 and there would be no doubt. I won't even compare NFL teams with CFL teams. Yes both leagues have caps but they are significantly different. There's way less player movement in the NFL so you do see more dynasty-like teams (Chiefs & Pats for example). Just looking at the CFL, it's absolutely a dynasty, IMO, otherwise you wouldn't need to go back 45 plus years to find the last example of this kind of success. Noeller 1

History doesn’t say X team lost by one point or them losing by 14. They look at Ws and Ls unfortunately. And yes CFL vs NFL is different but a 9 team league vs a 32 league team makes it even harder for a team to have that much success. So again. IMO I think they need to win this to really lock in the “D” word. I really do think this is an amazing run don’t get me wrong. And glad we are having this discussion vs any other team just wondering why they can’t even make the dance lol. Zach Schnitzer 1
Booch Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 (edited) It's a generational team...all time great 2 grey cup wins..2 in a row...5 straight appearance...it's certainly a dynasty team. It's hard in a SMS era to do that, and you have to look at for majority of the run 80 percent of roster was part of it We win Sunday...3 outta 5...2 losses being under 1 score and for most part last minute losses would cement it...and if we lose but show up again in 2025...it will have to be considered a legit dynasty team...none of us will ever see a run right it again in our life. Atlanta braves...of 90s one just the one world series.. but what..11 straight pennants..they were called a dynasty.. Edited November 11 by Booch Zach Schnitzer, HardCoreBlue, Piggy 1 and 3 others 3 3
bluto Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Dynasty... Disappointment... or is it Destiny: There's a sense of fate here for me and it is just weird, man. 2007 Bombers won the East final against the Argos but lost starting QB Kevin Glenn after he was tackled by LB Kevin Eiben who is now the Argos Co-DC. Glenn was not available for the Grey Cup to play against their hated rivals the Riders where they lost. They had to start their inexperienced backup QB Ryan Dinwiddie, who now coaches the Argos against the Bombers who will be coached by the guy who was the 07 Argos team captain for that game, Mike O'Shea. And now they meet a team who is without their star QB and they have a chance to not only claim a 3rd Grey Cup in 5 years... but to finally beat a team who owns them in the big game where the historical record is 7-0 Argos. However it ends, it'll be epic. Zach Schnitzer, coach17, rebusrankin and 1 other 3 1

Booch Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Nobody is taking anything away from him..been one the best runs in cfl history...world won't end when he is gone tho...as long as we have compatent management above him still...a big part of what most miss here. It's a concertive group effort to the end game...a piece falls by the wayside as long as the rest are still competent...you should continue just fine...just like we parted with Harris...Hardback...Nichols...lost Stev for a while...Grant...Bailey..Stove...Nevis...a couple coaches...we didn't derail..had some issues but over came And nobody is taking anything away from anyone but it wasn't one guy who is the reason...that's all...and if anyone of you were ever in a pro room you would see that a team is only as good for most part as their coordinators and assistants...they are the guys putting the game plan and doing majority of coaching together...and the HC manages their work. It's not a bias against someone or a slight...just way it is...and more times than not a HC who tries to coordinate at same time...rarely successful or can sustain Many think I don't like Osh...wrong...I don't like some things he does..and yes we have been successful in spite of some....just like last week..6 dlineman was probably a risky wrong thing to do...but we won anyway...not cause of that...but because the offence came to play and we had a good coached gameplay...if game had played out a different way..low scoring slog it out on ground game...that lineup would have got gouged and ground right out Bigblue204 and Rex_Banner 1 1

He went to that meeting in the spring of 2020 with the MPs totally unprepared asking for financial assistance & said the league loses $20M every year. Too bad he wasn't a Liberal hack as the feds take care of their own. It's probably a blessing we didn't get that money. Can you imagine the Bombers having to give up a significant amount of their yearly surpluses the past 4 seasons to help pay back the debt we'd owe the feds? Then there are the teams losing money. Would MLSE or OSEG have held onto the Argos & RedBlacks? Would the Elks have folded? Would Amar Doman have bought the Lions? Or Paladeau the Als??? The league would have looked much different with a huge debt to the government always looming.... Edited November 12 by SpeedFlex27
