....that and the fact too if video replay was in effect....they would have lost too.....

Remind me what you are referencing here. What would video have demonstrated that would’ve caused the loss?

One of the things I find the most distasteful about the riders chat site is how much so many of them whine about how people are against them or don’t give them enough respect.

Let’s not be that guy.

What don’t you like about Nielsen and Suitor?

They're terrible. Nielsen doesn't belong on TV and Suitor hasn't belonged for many years. No insight and terrible homer-ism. He barely watches the game.

Nielsen gets so worked up over nothing. He has a face for radio and voice for print.

Right after it was decided, instead of congratulating the Bombers and Toronto in getting to the game, the first thing out of his mouth is will the Bombers lose three straight GC’s.

Nice.

a key interception that clearly wasn't an interception

DN and KB imo come across as way too contrived, forced and schooled in the traditional broadcaster approach. Calm down a bit, act like a pro, be yourself and have some genuine fun while you’re at it.

But that’s just me.

What is happening?!!

I've never been a fan of Nielsen but he is slowly calming down. Wasn't nearly as annoying as he was last year. Still had a ways to go, but hopefully this trend continues

I don’t understand the hate for the TSN crew.  I always thought they do a pretty good job.   Could be a lot worse. Every team has a group of fans that are convinced the broadcast crew hates their team.   I really don’t see it that badly as it’s made out all the time.    Some people are just so negative, and might want to think for a bit about something else to direct their energy towards.

I dont really see much homerism...but I just don't think they do all that good of a job. I counted 3 separate occasions where Suitor was wrong about what was happening on the field...even after watching the replay. 2 other times he just didn't finish his thought, like just straight up stopped talking mid sentence lol. And like I already mentioned, I don't like Nielsens excited voice. It's entirely unnecessary.

Suitor both can't analyze the game and is boring as hell.

He's been doing this for 30 years and he's still awful.  Thus the hate.

yeah, I'm not as hypersensitive about homerism as a lot of people here are, but still am no big Suitor fan.  It's rare that I hear something insightful from him and it drives me crazy how he sells out for the predetermined game story.  That's a terrible flaw in a league as wacky as the CFL.  the game should drive the story, not the other way around. That might be coaching and not the player, though.  I have no idea how closely the on-air talent is managed by TSN.  anyone know?

to be positive, I actually think that the quality of commentary on TSN is pretty high right now by historical standards. Marshal, Matty, Lapo, and Forde are all guys worth a close listen. Rod Smith is a solid game manager kind of play-by-play guy and I appreciate Dustin's enthusiasm and think he's going to evolve into a guy who can deploy his freakouts thoughtfully.

Worst thing is stuff like the Milligan hype.  Yeah good player.  Nothing extraordinary.  There's DB's in the CFL each year like that.

So they run a bit about Milligan when Sask is already down 7-0 on a TD he had a nice view of.  And then drop it as the Bombers torch their secondary repeatedly.

So if you're going to use Milligan as a talking point....show us where he is.  Explain to us what the Bombers are doing to beat him and the Sask secondary if they are worthy of that hype.

one Suitor example that made me shake my head was after Lawler's second TD yesterday, Suitor was like "they should just line up roughrider stud Milligan against Lawler all game and let those two go at it."  and that seemed like a pretty simpleminded take on the situation.  if I'd read it on MBB I'd probably click the "ignore this poster" button.

(unless committing your best DB to cover their best receiver man-on-man for the entire game is actually a solid call.  I dunno, it sounded like a situation ripe for exploitation)

edit: lol we both complained about Milligan simultaneously

Well and Sask plays man not at all.

The Bombers had success because they flooded one side of the field with verticals to force the DB's to cover man and take away the ability for them to read the ball, come downhill and make a play.

And Sask didn't adjust at all.

This isn't even a hard thing to explain to a casual fan on the replay.

"See, these two go deep, inside slot runs a post and Lawler runs the over across the field wide open because all Sask DB's have to read this and drop into man."

Or his other TD when they are in zone and both the corner-half jump the curl because they are reading Zach's eyes instead of the routes.

TSN did have a decent all-24 breakdown of that play after the commercial, both strong side DBs jumping the short route like you describe and hanging the safety out to dry.

Suitor never breaks down a play.

You can love or hate Chris Collinsworth but the research team around him knows what to feed him and when to feed it to him. If he's left on his own, he flails, but they do an amazing job of feeding him the correct material inline with what's happening on the field.

Suitor wings it but can't even break down defensive DB failures, despite having been one. It happens right in front of him and he cannot explain what happened.

He adds nothing to the broadcast.

Only have to listen to him a max of 5 or 6 times a year because he doesn't call the East away games.

My favourite was Suitor explaining how the riders were covering Oliveira in the flat during a replay showing Brady in the backfield blocking a rusher.

or Wheatfalls catch....saying it was Lawler

Not sure if anyone caught it but when they were showing the teams lineups with the pictures they like to use....for the WF Tony Jones was wearing his black guy with dreads mask hahaha....TSN at times is just so bad at what they do

Remember, Harris is such a great mentor. He taught Oliveira & Ouelette to take half the tackler....
