Walters needs to be ruthless this off season. Time to channel his inner Don Matthews or Wally Buono.

or Cal Murphy.....but he definitely needs to take a lil control....

Unless 7/11's in Saskatchewan have been putting racoon or possum in their meat pies I doubt that is what they were eating. Mr. Pib and toilet hooch....perhaps.

By Don or Wally comparison's I assume you are talking about jettisoning off older players? If so, who and who is replacing them. I mean, Biggie is a given and probably Alexander...who else?

well....not just older....but inadequate....and cost vs value guys.....abd guys who are in way of actual talent...and have upside moving forward...so...Thomas....Schmeck..Wilson...BA....Kolo....Gauthier...Augustine...Neuf if his body is continually breaking down...tho not older...the punter guy....Lucky....thats a good start and opens up some $$

I am. I think MOS is too loyal to his boys so the decisions need to be taken out of his hands.

I'd go Biggie (Jones, a FA or a newbie), K.Wilson (likely a newbie), Alexander (Kelly), Thomas (Lawson), Augustine (MCI), Lofton (FA or Newbie), Neufeld (Wallace or FA), Kolo (Eli) Sheehan, Lucky (Newbie or maybe Leake), Schmekel (Samson).

I like that list. I'd add Streveler, Schoen, Gauthier & Whitehead.

Agreed! Seems like in the past few years we've been reluctant to dip into the impact FA or trade pool because ... keeping the band together, messing with chemistry, only "bad" teams do that, I don't know. It's BS. If you're smart about it, and cut some high priced veteran talent that isn't giving you value at present, you can strategically add some big pieces. Something like Argos did adding Ceresna. Can you imagine how he would have impacted he would have had on our D line? I'm really disappointed with Walters actually.

any DT we would have brought would take a back seat to Thomas and Scheck....cause Osh seriously thinks they are legit

Have you forgotten entirely what happened last off-season?  Walters spent the bank on a few big contracts and had nothing left to offer reliable impact players such as Bailey, Jeffcoat, Walker and Grant, he sure didn't have any leftover to offer league leading FA's from other teams.

Let's say Zach has one year left. And let's say there are a bunch of QBs available this offseason:

Ford, VAJ, Alexander, McCheese (barf)

Would you cut bait on one year of Zach for multiple years of any of the above?

I would for Alexander.

Agree with most of that. I’d keep Lofton, especially if Bryant retires. If not, unless we get a premiere tackle I bring him back and have him actually fight for the spot. He did improve, and he’d be better at guard.
I’d bring schmekel back for camp depth and try to flip him to be more of a versatile big. If we could go to 6ol, and use schmekel as the 7th blocker, a teams guys, and a back up dl that’d be great. Especially with carrying mci, feltmate, woli and big kev.
Feltmate is excellent on teams and a tough body to account for in heavy sets. So is mci and honestly big kev. But bringing 7 ol 2 fbs and a big wr is a lot of roster usage for not a lot of reusable depth.

Let's say we make some changes in the offseason. We upgrade at KR and in the front 7. We have a healthy receiving corps (Schoen, Wilson on year 2, maybe a free agent or a rookie find). We rattle off 12 wins and make the Grey Cup.

Zach is your QB, Buck is your OC, and we are facing Toronto or Montreal at home for the Grey Cup.

Does anyone go into that game thinking we have a chance at winning?

Sure why not? If the receivers are healthy why not?

Here are 5 reasons:

2019: 17/23, 170 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
2021: 21/32, 240 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
2022: 14/23, 183 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT
2023: 19/23, 236 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT
2024: 15/30, 202 yards, 0 TD, 4 INT

And yes I am aware we won two of those anyways.

A chance? Yes. Do we have a way to control our destiny and take that game? I don’t think so.

I just want to add that if anyone here actually thinks the defense had anything to do with the result yesterday is out of their ******* mind

So I guess.. that's a positive. The D played great, even tho they probably saw no real breaks because of our **** offense.

D did what it had to. I think they’ll be even better next year.

Not every one will be ready for this and that’s understandable. But we will definitely need a shot of positivity around here this off season.
With that in mind here are some things I look forward to with the bombers in a positive light only.

Terry Wilson. I was extremely impressed by how poised and in control he was when he came in. Stepped up in the pocket, kept his eyes down field when pressured and threw with authority. He has Great arm talent, and athleticism. But the mental side of him looks legit too. I look forward to seeing him progress next year.

another Canadian draft. We really cleaned up in this last draft, which was a strong draft to be fair. So I don’t expect us to replicate that success, but adding another piece or two to the AR will be huge for our NI depth.

On that note, our rookie Canadians did better than I expected this year. I can’t wait to see big kev with another tc under his belt, think Wallace will be poised to take a starting spot next year, mci came a very long way as a blocker too. I hope to see a good chunk of pre season reps for mci to play rb so we can see what he has and let him develop. He went from a guy out of place on an AR to a solid FB in one season and that’s pretty good.

Kelly, I think he has a sneaky good chance of becoming our starting S next year. Imagine 3 starting Canadian dbs? Never thought I’d see that on a good team.

tyjuan garbutt really turned a corner late. He isn’t the instant dominant pass rusher we need, but he’s a damn good two way end who plays with discipline. Imo he’d be excellent as a di rotational back up next year.

Ayers and Cole. I’d love to see more of Ayers at mac and Cole at wil. Both guys are monsters on teams just scratching at their potential but are still a lot of fun to watch.

Devin adams. Such an incredible athlete and raw talent. Gonna be awesome to watch him in his first full camp.

Woods. Our best dl for my money all year. Guys a beast who can play a bunch of inside positions and some edge especially in the 30 front. Only 25 years old and the sky is the limit.

can lawson and schoen the return. Nuff said. Love what both these guys bring.

Owen Hubert. Really over achieved early. Hit the rookie wall hard. But showed a ton of lunch box type stuff that could make him a very valuable rotational piece next year.

The majority of the secondary as well. Holm and Kramdi stepped up big, griffin and bonds were excellent Nichols was my modp for us and ford legit would’ve been moc in the league most years. How do you improve on that? Well Nichols is the only guy at 30. So another year could bring improvement for each of those guys.

JY. Through some early struggles he really turned a rag tag group of guys into an elite pass defence. I can’t imagine what more he has in store with a year of growth and prep.

The Linbacking corps has a bright future.

WLB: Ayers, Wilson, Cole

MLB: ?

SLB: Kramdi, Griffths

So then why wasn't he the qb in edmonton?

Stupidity and the fact that people put experience over talent.

They tried to go to Ford, it didn't do much for them. He's a long way out from being a starting qb.

Baily was being underpaid by us for years because he was stuck at WR4 or 5. Even if they had managed to keep him around, it would have been at the expense of Wilson or Clercius... I think you might take either of those over a 31 year old Bailey even though he was probably my favorite Bomber of the last few years.

Jeffcoat was always a bit of a glass cannon

Grant was obviously a miss, but I think there were concerns about his durability because Buck was obsessed with running the teams 170 LB star returning up the middle on offense.

I don't think Walker is even playing football any more?

They were the highest scoring O in the league with MBT playing and not close to that with Ford.  Rushing numbers actually went down with him at QB because D knew they didn't have to cover the whole field.

Don't be too hard on Walters for that one... He didn't have a reunion with Kurleigh Gittens Jr to dangle in front of the Elks new quarterback.

How about with Chad Kelly playing?  Results show the Bombers have fallen to the 3rd best team in the league and need to rethink their approach and revive their personnel if they want to get back on top.

I mean the final score looked pretty bad for this game... but the Bombers were right there until Zach started throwing int's after his finger was hurt.

He doesn't hurt his finger the game was absolutely winnable (the long toss to Wilson that got picked SHOULD have been a huge play, Zach throws that in the right place it's maybe even a home run)
