Obviously they both still want to play football, Gauthier has been a Bomber since 2016 and Wilson since 2017, they've paid their dues with the team and deserve to be treated with respect, as does Jake and Biggie.  Both have diminishing roles on the team but can still contribute effectively as gap fillers when needed.  Ayers is already under contract and looks to be the heir apparent to Wilson, limiting Wilson's reps. rotating with Ayers may be the strategy needed to preserve his health, and if the inevitable injuries happen again, Ayers just takes over WIL with help from Cole.

Disagree at a certain point you need to move on.

Finally, Jones is not an outlier or young physical specimen. He's a Lunch box guy. He doesn't cover his area in pass D very well with speed, and doesn't make great decisions. He was frequently too shallow last year especially late and teams attacked his spot. Jones covers the gaps, scrapes to the ball, and tackles well.

Nothing wrong with a lunchbox MLB, much better to stay at home and take care of business than fail attempting to cover receivers 40 yards downfield, let the DB's handle that ****.  Biggie was a weird variant who tried to do everything to make up for his lack of real size and Richie gave him the freedom to do whatever he thought he could do.  It's pretty unrealistic to expect the next guy up to follow his footprints, keep it simple and do your job, hopefully everyone else does the same.

I'm all for poaching the Argos. Best coached team in the league the last few seasons.

outcoached us x2

well the Argo's OC put together a scheme and game plan and used appropriate play makers to beat the apparent best defense in the league...with a career journeyman backup.....so there is that.....he must have some chops

Yep that is totally true. You do have to sub and protect them in certain passing situations though, even more so in our system. But no reason he can't be a big part of our front. Plus teams, hes really good on cover teams.

Versatility on D especially was huge in our GC wins and modern success. Biggie being able to cover a moderate middle zone really well and play zone like a sam, willy being able to play inside out and the passing lanes, Nose tackles able to play two gaps, etc. I think you always look for that type of guy who can do things that are hard to game plan for in opposition. And who can allow other players to excel in more limited roles. But we aren't just gonna dig up the next HOF lbers real easy.

Also, re: New OC... You can take Khari's name off the list. He's headed to the UBC TBirds for 2025...

honest question... was his name ever on the list?... or just discussed around these parts?

3DN (fwiw) definitely had him listed a potential candidate.  The "real" media doesn't really cover/care about the CFL to the extent that they would write about OC candidates so 3DN is pretty much it for that kind of talk.

I think the potential article on the official site has his name on it too. Though that was entirely speculation as well.

Was he ever a serious contender for the spot? We will never know, but I kind doubt it. If they wanted him, he'd be here, not a guy who loses opportunities on interviews either.

Garcia is an interesting pick. 31 year old former 3rd round nfl pick. Had starter at LT potential, but was a guy who played light in the 270s and low 280 range.  Weight was his biggest issue in the nfl. Got blood clots his rookie year and missed a bunch of time which lead to him dropping 40 lbs. after his return being too light the pats cut him. Kicked around a bit made the colts pr but was suspended for 4 games for peds. Sat the year but again didn’t play.
Looks like he only played one game up here between the elk and riders.

Looks to be one of those dark horses who will either fail in training camp (if he shows) or wow everyone.

Yeah seems like. I do think it’s a good chance for us to take. Low risk high reward. We have had success with aged reclamation projects on the ol.

here’s a couple interesting quotes on 2 guys from Walters

On Ford: “My understanding is they’re going to explore all NFL opportunities right to the end. He’s not even looking to talk CFL offers. I spoke to his agent, and they just want to focus on NFL opportunities right now. We wish him the best of luck. If he can get into an NFL camp that would be great for him. If he doesn’t then he’s clearly going to be a highly sought-after player.”

And Dobson: “I’ve spoken to his agent, and they want to see the offensive line market for Canadians. It’s pretty high for some of these guys and Liam was an all-star and did very well as a starter so his agent, rightfully so, is expecting a very big raise. He’s part of that interesting puzzle on how to make it all work.”

I thought Dobson struggled last season but OL and Canadian so he’s gonna get paid. I’m not sure what they do there. They could start 3 Americans on the OL or give Wallace a shot next to big Stan and draft an oline

I thought Liam Dobson was still a young'un...

Was surprised when I browsed your team roster page.

(and don't get me started about child labour laws and Jason Person)

he's a youngin eh?...hahahahaha......That being said...I see him as our R.O.Y candidate

I don't see Streveller as a must sign.

If this is true how does it reconcile with some posters here saying our current stable of back-up QB's in the near future won't see the field (sans short yardage) as long as MOS is head coach?

Whether its CS or our existing talent or someone else, we need a competent back-up QB that MOS can deploy if ZC is really struggling that forces his hand to put in his back-up trumping this earned it loyal approach, hurt feelings.

I love loyalty, I love respect, I love earned it, I love that player has given so much to this organization, I think they have become very underappreciated values but it does with some at times need be balanced with reality of what's going in that current moment of time especially in professional sports.
