Is Jake Thomas actually a future Bomber HoFer? Expand No doubt it’s crazy. It’s like Emmitt smith being the all time nfl rushing leader. But not even close to a top 5 or even 10 back. Is Jake a hofer? If mos has any thing to say lol. Honestly our dl talent in the all time pool hasn’t seen many guys join its rank in the past 30 years. I like Jake for a big chunk of his career, especially as a rotational 3tech. (Though I did want more dual big nt imps in 19/21) Im good if he goes into our hall. Hes a great guy and has played a very fruitful career here. Never a selfish moment. His usage since stove left isn’t his fault. I really hate what mos and others have done to guys like Jake. Watching guys run out who can’t play any more is awful. Unfortunately we’ve seen a hell of a lot of this the past 25 years. BigBlueFanatic, HardCoreBlue and MOBomberFan 3

Smith is always in the top 10 all time rbs in the league, usually in the top 5 after Sanders, Payton, Brown. A better example of a crappy HOF'er is Art Monk who only had 5 - 1000 yard receiving seasons in his 16 seasons and only 3 pro bowl selections. 2 of those seasons he barely passed the 1000 yard mark. You could argue smith in the 90s before he played ages beyond his prime, but he’s as much a product of the system and talent around him as any one in the hof. You’re right about monk though. That is a better comparison. Rb is soo insanely deep with talent when you look at the guys from the late 90s to before rb load management, it’s not even funny. Noeller Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 We're not talking about Jake as CFL HOF.... But WBBFC HOF? ....maybe....?
wbbfan Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 My rough top group of guys I’d take over smith. sanders, Peyton, lt, brown, Peterson, oj, Faulk, the bus, Dickerson, Henry, gore, and a few guys like mccaffrey, Holmes, Alexander, and Johnson. I think if you swap any of those guys, reasonably healthy onto any of smiths teams they wouldn’t miss a beat. And bring more dynamic play making/explosiveness. people talk about Marino not bringing home a ring aikman being a product of the system and talent. But they’re both ahead of smith for me. Aikman not far in front though lol. Durable as hell though. I’ll give him that. On 2025-02-11 at 2:40 AM, Noeller said: We're not talking about Jake as CFL HOF.... But WBBFC HOF? ....maybe....? Brandon Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 The issue with Thomas is that the numbers don't always tell the full story. Several times in the last few seasons he has had gimmie sacks where WJ has two guys hanging off of him and is driving the qb out of the pocket and chasing him down and Thomas gets the easy sack since he's at this point climbed back up after being pushed down and is the only guy on the d-line who isn't being blocked so he can make the easy tackle. I can't think of many or if any "highlights" that Jake Thomas has had in any of the games he has played in. Maybe it's just me being critical and he has made big plays that I'm ignoring... I just can't remember any of them. I don't know for any of our post game threads if anyone has had Thomas in the top 3 or has given him a HH award. Tracker and BigBlueFanatic 2

Expand I think his play as a nose blinds a lot of his earlier play at 3. It is frequently designed that an end closes the pocket from behind and frees up a sack for another dl. JJ created soo many sacks for so many guys it’s not even funny. I recall him having a HH play on a turn over on downs play stopping a back with one arm while the other arm was full of ol. blue85gold Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 Strev basically saying that Buck never gave him a chance last year Quote "As excited as Streveler is to return to the only CFL family he knows, he wanted to get a few assurances before signing on the dotted line. That included calling Hogan shortly after news broke that he has taken over as the team’s new offensive co-ordinator, replacing Buck Pierce, who is the new head coach of the B.C. Lions. Streveler wanted to make sure he wasn’t walking into a similar situation as last year. “Things happened last year where it just didn’t work out the way that I think anyone envisioned it would, on a lot of different fronts,” Streveler said, adding he’s excited to see what Hogan can do. “I’ve had some really good discussions with people, specifically within the Bombers. Had I not had those conversations with someone and felt excited, it would have probably been a different conversation, right?” " Expand https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2025/02/10/streveler-finds-time-to-re-sign-with-bombers Super Duper Negatron, BomberBall., rebusrankin and 2 others 5

Booch Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 was pretty obvious....even in practice/skelly....he got no reps running anything resembling an offence....so when he got in he always had to work out rut...timing and processing things basically from scratch and no practice...of course he would start out slow....Look at ZC the first 2..3 weeks with no reps in TC...looked like hot garbage Lapo started the deconstruction of him...Buck almost ruined him and got him basically murdered....looking forward to him being an actual QB....Will be huge for us I bet down the stretch On 2025-02-11 at 3:09 PM, rebusrankin said: Interesting comments from Streveler.
