Ya... Listen... I defend our management to the death.... But I can't defend this. It's inexcusable. Even if you say that Lawson is going to take the bulk of the reps or whatever....what's the point of even bringing him to camp at this point? It's a waste of roster spot and if there was even a penny of guaranteed money, then it's a waste.

Unless it's Jake paying them to keep him around...

Maybe it's a 1 day so he can retire....

Honestly, you can really sell me on the move IF a few things change. The problem is, I don’t believe even a single one of these would ever be true, nevermind all of them.

IF he’s a gameday backup to Lawson only, IF he takes maybe 20% of the reps he did last year, IF we adjust our ratio for a fresh week in case of a Lawson injury and IF this comes at the cost of reps for Schmekel, then I’m fine with this move.

Problem is, none of that will be the case.

100 percent agreed. IF they used him like they did in 2019 I would have less problems with this. I guess the silver lining is hopefully Lawson is back and healthy and Thomas is regulated to a rotational role but even when it’s all said and done If the Bombers we’re serious about change guys like Thomas and Gauthier would be long gone.

Gauthier is still a solid Special teamer though. He does bring value and can fill in at LB in emergency in game situations.

Thomas may not be an everyday. Dlineman but he certainly can get the job done as a backup. At least until we find someone better  )

Besides if we really thought OShea wasn't going to not reup him in a home grey cup year we were dreaming

If we draft a better dt then perhaps we relook at it

The CFL's draft rankings (for whatever they are worth) do show more DL than usual this year.  Maybe it's a possibility we can find some one who can take that spot in their 1st year.

The fall rankings had 8 of the top 20 being DL (only 2 OL this year and one of them has retired).

Walters is GM. He’s the guy signing guys. If he didn’t want him back he wouldn’t be.

It's baffling to me not just because it reeks of being a "one of Osh's guys" type of signing. It also says that Walters and Osh evaluated the talent they currently have, what's out there as FA's, draft, and think Jake is a better option, starter or rotational. Based on talent he was barely a rotational option compared to who we had on the roster last year. This is really disappointing.

Jake isn’t one of O’Shea guys tho. Jake has been here longer. He’s 5th all time on the games played as a bomber list and if healthy will end the year 4th behind Cameron westwood and Walby. Let that sink in.

I would love to know the why here tho. Truly. We signed Jake because…..

dude hasn’t been hurt in 7 seasons either and last year was a career year with 24 tackles and 2 sacks. Do they think there’s upside still. ? Out their damn minds. How much $$$ did Thomas get? That’s an important factor here.

‘Win’?  There’s no way he could win anything.  ‘Handed’ is a strong possibility.

This signing is a real kick in the nuts.

We've seen in BB land that training camp has different meanings depending on the player who you are talking about.

In JT's case, training camp is more 'try out my new comedy material' while some players work their ass showing they're ready for prime time but with no chance of winning that starting/rotational position cuz that funny guy over there has earned whatever he wants to do regardless of anything else..
