The management cap allows you to fire 1 guy and not count their salary against the cap. Every other coach would have their guaranteed contract on the cap. Can they do a big reset? Not sure what the former staff had for deals

Don't really buy his "bad blood from ex-players" excuse though because Parades also said the organization has gone downhill in the last 5 years and he's still with the club. https://3downnation.com/2024/11/28/charleston-hughes-defends-calgary-stampeders-blames-ex-player-criticism-on-bad-blood/ Back in the day many of the same accusations would have been made about Cal Murphy and the way he ran the Bombers, if players were as brave and vocal as they are today. It's the cheap, old school football mentality dragged out of the past they don't like, which was also the model for the NHL right up until the late 60's. Unfortunately Hufnagel and the Stamps are still using it today, due to budget restrictions they're forced to live with by the negligent owner.

rebusrankin Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 If they poach one, could we not offer a new title and more $ to the other?

Unless they're offering quite a bit more money why would Danny leave for the same job? Ti-Cats must be playing loose with the admin. cap to pay substantially higher wages to management than the Bombers are able to.

He still calls the shots.

The Hamilton connection, maybe he wants change, maybe they can offer more freedom especially if Ted leaves, might hire one of his guys as a scout under him etc. I don’t think Danny will want to leave, but who knows it is possible. You don’t take interviews and stay in it for a week with out having interest.

Especially not for a guy like him who spends most of his time at home in the states, especially coming up from that beautiful weather into these storms. He can pretty much come here for work paid as he pleases. Ham all expenses paid isn’t nicer than 20-30c and a drive from the beach. Generally guys who aren’t really wanting the job but going through it for experience etc pull out in the first week after 1 interview trip. Staying in longer than that to pull out or decline is kind of looked down on.

Really have to wonder about Danny's ties to Hamilton, it's been so long since he played there's nobody left including the previous owner and Pigskin Pete. wbbfan 1
bigg jay Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Looks like McManus is out of the running for GM in Hamilton. Does not even being a finalist reduce the chances of him being offered/accepting a similar role to what he's already doing here? https://3downnation.com/2024/11/30/hamilton-tiger-cats-narrow-gm-decision-to-three-finalists-sources/ wbbfan 1

"Simon played three seasons with Scott Milanovich, Hamilton’s head coach, as his quarterback at the University of Maryland from 1993 through 1995. His best campaign as a Terrapin came with Milanovich throwing him the football in 1994 as he made 77 receptions for 891 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games." bigg jay, Gail, wbbfan and 1 other 4

Mos, was also a hof on the short list of best Canadian players of all time. A lot of the hiring of a hc is based on interviews, and how your own character check into their background goes. Not saying he’s a bad hire, not sure there is a hc I’d get really excited about bringing in for any team this year. But a project hc for a team that has been every shade of bad for many years is not encouraging. Especially when they were almost a play off team after the ejection of jones. This move means another group that comes in and clears out old players and tries to start from scratch. Instead of building off what they had. 3 minutes ago, Goalie said: Feels like When we hired Osh. Same kinda vibes there. But also when claybrooks got his job imo. Exactly...no different than here...and Killam has way more coaching experience And by all accounts I aware of...he's highly regarded and respected by players...not just ST slugs...so he gets his shot now...as long as he no Claybrooks he will be fine...as long as as he has good people around him Piggy 1 and wbbfan 2
