WWE not exactly a sport, sort of but live weekly entertainment signed 10 years 5 billion with Netflix. I’d imagine cfl might be something one of them would have interest in. Captain Obvious says that the CFL would be happy with 10% of that amount. 1 hour ago, Pete said: You' d think that Adams would have had enough of team friendly deals given how he got shown the door in BC despite his efforts You could argue that Collaros is the most overpaid qb in the league but I doubt if he does this The Stamps will somehow screw this whole thing up. The way the team is coached. It's inevitable. The Lons did Adams no favours by trading him to Calgary.
SpeedFlex27 Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 (edited) https://calgarysun.com/sports/cavalry-forced-to-play-concacaf-home-leg-elsewhere-against-mexican-giant-pumas So, we have two billionaire owners in Calgary. Oil Baron Murray Edwards for the Stamps & the Southern family (ATCO) for Calvary FC. We have no facilities in Alberta to play this game here in February as the ground is frozen & it's minus 25. We can't move the game indoors. You'd thnk these two owners with their financial clout would get together, find a parcel of land & start planning a domed or retractable roof 40,000 seat facility for Calgary that is soccer friendly for Calvary FC & football oientated for the Stamps. But no. As usual, this city of nearly 2 million continues to have absolutely the worst sports facilities in North America for a city of it's size as tese owners just go about their business with no desire to build a facility that Calgary would be proud of. Calvary FC plays in a 5,000 seat facility in the deep south of Calgary that is 40 kms from someone who lives in the far NW or NE. It's not the easiest place to access at Spruce Meadows. Their stadium reminds me of old Osborne Stadium with it's peaked roof. Then there's the dump the Stamps play in. McMahon Stadium should have been torn down 20 years ago. There just isn't any long term, outside the box thinking here unlike other cities. I've been here for 34 years. When we moved here in 1990, there were 700,000 residents living in Calgary & there was this "can do" attitude. Now, years later that attitude is gone. We Calgarians like to smugly think of ourselves as "world class" city. We aren'r even close to that. This city is bloated at 1.7 million people. Winnipeg managed to get a new football stadium, arena & baseballl stadium. Here? Nothing like that ever gets done anymore unless it's a hockey arena. Even that took a decade to get done. He's won some early season games...put up good numbers for half seasons and done nothing in the playoffs. That's essentially the going rate for a starting qb in the CFL with his pedigree. If anything, that miiiiiiight be a bit of an over pay. But that might be reaching a bit by me lol TBURGESS and Noeller 1 1

Yes I know it's a team game. But VA has never been a starting QB on a team that won a divison...nevermind back to back. Never mind 5 times in a row. He's never started a GC, which of course makes it impossible for him to be a starting QB on a team that won back to back GCs and of course that makes it impossible for him to be a GC MVP as well. I get your point Booch. I actually think Collaros' contract is more of a hinderance to the team than any thing else. But VA is not and hasn't been at any point in his career (up until now) at the same level as Collaros. And I'm a VA fan for what it's worth and wouldn't have even been against bringing him in and trading ZC. but...VA has done exactly nothing in CGY. And that's why I don't see that contract as team friendly. It's about on par with what a starting QB is making, and like I said earlier maybe even a bit of an over pay. Time will tell with that. With the plethora of good backups on the market this year, I would hope KW is going to grab us one of them. Football championships are always a collective effort. No doubt about that. However, some QBs tend to be able to lead their teams to more of them than others even if the stats don't necessarily show it. Sometimes its the timeliness of a play, for instance, or just a few minutes of greatness that make the difference between a VA and a ZC. Love him or hate him, I would take Fajardo as our back up for that reason. He sucks as a QB, but occasionally he gets hot and as Grey Cup 23 taught us he can sometimes get hot at exactly the right time. As a starter I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, but coming in off the bench he's a guy that might just win you the game if your starter goes down. All you ask from a backup. Stickem Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 Never a big fan of Vaj....He always looks to me like an injury waiting to happen....He hasn't really won anything in the CFL ....just a middlin' quarterback....BUT they'll say in Cal. that he's the answer to all of their qb. prayers...Good luck with that...

TBURGESS Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat. If VAJ was our QB, I'd say we'd have won the same number of GC's as we have with Collaros, maybe more. It's not like Collaros lit up the other teams. wbbfan, Booch and SpeedFlex27 2 1

But that requires accepting that winning is more than some kind of personal player magic. Im consigned to the fact we will have zach back this coming season. I am however also optimistic that he can’t have a worse year than this last one. If our pass pro is at the level we saw down the stretch, all year next year and we have better game plans and play call from the oc any thing is possible. I think it’s possible with a good off season that we end up with a D that can carry us to gc wins. Id love to have a young franchise qb. But one isnt available. Wish we kept brown maybe next year. rebusrankin 1

Objectively it looks like the early loss of Schoen and later Woli, plus the introduction of multiple rookie receivers on a steep learning curve was largely responsible for the downturn in Zach's production and an uptick in his stress level.
