It’s interesting the poopkup is gonna be the stamps qb coach. Glad we won’t go back to him again in the future.

It could be a sign of the times for their organization

We had a muscle rb and he ended up being cast off to Hamilton...  big muscles doesn't mean anything.  I'll take speed, flexibility, and endurance over power for that position any day.

Great stuff thanks.

225 reps is soo silly. Grant did like 12 or some thing at 180lbs. That’s impressive. Should be some thing like body weight bench press reps done in 30 seconds or some measure of time. That’d be much better to measure explosive strength.
Or maybe instead of body weight, average body weight at the position.

Some guys are built different. Big Kev is like that. Even next to mci, who is marginally bigger, Kevens looks like he has the frame where he could’ve played any position if he had bulked at a younger age.

Sucks that Baldwin has had to step down due to health issues. Hopefully he can get healthy and come back to the league.

Actually I believe grant did 20...or 22....and that was at 177 pounds....He did more at Rutgers pro day than some lineman and linebackers....Gus Edwards their RB as well...Grant is crazy strong...Agudosi told me that in training he would just amaze the strength and conditining staff and players...and was so ow key about *** too

he actually is very flexible and quick.....worked out with him a lot...he actually in season does a ton of plyometric style lifts...and static holds against resistance in a squat rack with no actual weight on the bar but maintains force against the pins...part odf reason he has never really been hurt

You’re right I just looked it up, 22 reps at 177 lbs. such a beast. Wish we kept him.

Augustine did a ton of hard work to make him self fit the pro style of rb better. Not many guys make them self quicker/faster as a pro. That guy has future coach written all over him. SnC, RBs, or out side of football.

we’ve had guys like blink excel and guys chiseled out of granite fail. But that’s the same at every position in every league.

Leg power is key, but I think you see a lot of that projecting well from 10 yard splits and agility drills

For RBs it’s more about having the right mind set for the physical tools they have then refining the running style to work with both. I see soo many big backs run away from contact where as smaller backs understand how to offset impact by not letting guys square up rather than trying to avoid contact all together.

What was once considered the balanced back, is now the go to. Not too big they struggled to get through holes or get small, big enough to bounce off blocks and push the pile.

Quickness has always been the biggest value for a rb imo. Change of direction, explosive acceleration, pile pushing soo much comes from quickness. Flexibility, balance, and toughness are what unleash the potential of a quick player. Grant showed that in spades. As much as we saw him stiff arm guys, we saw him just keep his base under him and fight off tackles while running at cover teams.

I still think he could’ve been soo much more on offense too. He’s better all around skill wise than Chad Owens was.

I'll let someone else start this conversation.

Honestly, IDK. A million bucks a year with incentives is much more than anyone else in the CFL makes. Is that kind of money insufficient, especially wrapped around a rare job in pro sports? I'd be ok with a high cap on bonuses for that role. If they generate sustainable growth, they should have their salary grow. I don't want to incentivize a commish to come in, pump up a bunch of trash expansion teams and some front-loaded sponsorship deals, and then bail after getting paid.

To put it into some sort of comparison, the company I work for had a net income under 400m (all USD numbers) last year. His base salary plus performance bonus hit under 3m, though he received considerable stock extra for an exceptional year (everyone's bonus was a record high).  This is a big company, if you scaled his rate of earning in a record year down to CFL revenue levels, the commish would make pennies. For further comparison, Bettman made under 10m, and the MLS commish got under 5m and he's seen insane revenue growth in his time.

Who knows what a CFL Commissioner is truly worth salary wise? Is it a half mill, $1M or $2M?? I do know this, The bickering of teams has to stop for the good of the league. We need to hire someone with that **** all done with. We need a person in place who knows how to grow revenues & has a clue how to market the league as a whole.

I'd be in favour of the job being split up. Hire a football person to handle the day to day football operations of the league, the teams & to be the face of the CFL. Work with teams & fans to grow the game all across Canada but centre mostly on the 9 teams & fans.

Then hire a Business Marketing President who does the grunt work drumming up sponsorships & business relationhips for the CFL. He/she would be responsible for possible expansion cities, marketing the CFL on a national basis , negotiating a new tv deal, streaming rights & a new bargaining agreement with the players. I think what is asked of a Commissioner today with all the CFL's problems, is far too much for one person to handle.

I'll do the job for $75K plus travel expenses. I doubt I could do a worse job than scarf boy.

Are you going to need an additional expense account to up your own scarf game?

Gonna need a serious defense fund should the 4 stripes learn the new commish was from here.

Edmonton and Calgary try to leave the cfl as soon as they hear this news lol. No doubt publicity wise it’d be a huge splash.

They wouldn't be the only ones. Would be a PR disaster for the CFL....probably try turn the game into two hand touch.
