I agree, he's the best. But the same 'easily replaced, don't break the bank' narrative was spun about him last season.

RB, and DB are the two most replaceable positions in the CFL. Next up would be mac and wil imo. The hardest positions to replace are QB (ofc), T/OL, and DE/DL. Qbs, pass rushers and guys who stop the pass rush are the key stones to success in football at every level and league. Wrs tend to have a high replacement level, but elite wrs scale beyond their position. Where as Lbers have a high replacement level and IMO don't scale highly with elite play in the cfl. (not including sam.) DB is in the same boat as lber.

The average maximum hard salary of Lbers in the cfl last year was 167k. For DB it was 147k, 232k for Wrs. And just 120k for Rbs, which includes brady doubling the 2nd highest paid rb, and beating out the 2nd+3rd highest handily.

Just for fun, here is a break down of the other positions since I've come this far lol .

OL 200k

QB 490k (this includes Rourkes salary at this years rate)

DL 200k

I couldn't find the 2024 list for kickers/punters/special teams for some reason. But the 2022 list had an average of 120k for kickers and punters. Crazy that they get the same pay 2 seasons ago as rbs last season.

Doesn't seem to be a 2024 list but here's 2023's numbers.

Hard money average: 105K, max value average: 117k.

B.C is close to signing McInnis. I’m a little surprised. I thought he would follow Adams to Calgary, or was hoping maybe we’d be in on him if we weren’t able to bring guys like Woli, and Lawler back.

pretty sure we will be bringin back all receivers with the Mitchell addition save for Whitehead....they want ZC to be comfortable with who he chucking too, and we have seen with new guys....he takes a long time to get comfortable and have chemistry with them....let alone trust them to throw to

funny considering when you think about it the Elks set that ridiculous standard

Jones set it, unfortunately Walters is the only GM that followed his lead and tried to keep up.  225k should be established as the max for receivers, $150k for RB's.

Woli is still under contract.

I think you can argue that the OG reilly deal set the market on fire. That dumpster fire only recently burned out with soo many WRs making 280k+ failing to meet expectations.

Bc was really trying hard to match edmontons crazy too. The money they gave Stove, baron and others was nutty. They just ended up seeing a lot of those guys on the IR.

Why are the argos having a fire sale?

no clue....unless they going large in FA on somebody...or somebodies......and likely they already tampered considering they are moving assets

Basic math, paying for the second highest paid QB in the league and keeping a room full of vets. that have won twice in 3 years content.  Kyle Walters knows their pain.

Did he get a raise this off season though? Pretty sure hes the 3rd highest with rourke now.

The modern argos team has always been shrewd. They haven't chased guys who want top dollar. But this seems different. They're moving young guys who aren't crazy expensive. I think boochs' notion that they are reving up to hit one or a couple specific FAs hard is possible. Maybe the new owners have sent down a mandate to be as cheap as possible as well. Or maybe they have some other FA of their own they they plan to give kramdi esq money to.

Idr ever seeing a team this active in trades in the whole of an off season. This is still weeks before free agency.

Depends on which source you read.  Rourke should be the highest now but Kelly & Collaros flip flop between 2 & 3.  Before Rourke came back there were multiple articles saying Kelly was the highest paid player but you could also find articles saying it was Zach.

In Aug 2023, 3DN had Kelly making $615k in 2024 for the (then) top spot but in May, they had him at #2 making 584k.  Take your pick on which is most accurate. 😂
