I believe our strategy is that we cant improve the team enough with what star players we can afford, so instead of chasing top guys to replace ford/lawler, we are chasing our weakest import positions to improve the weakest chains instead of adding new strongest chains.

Ford tho really is a blessing to get away from....easily replaced at half the price or less.....Our real issue was Dline/end....LB....receiver...Oline

As it is and looking at what's left to scrounge through...our receiving group will be weaker...our dline as well...got older...and weaker....We did grab a legit LB but missed out on a few others....oline hasnt been adressed....yet.....there are guys there but in all honesty other than at center we would have been okay with same group...or one of Wallace/Eli for Dobson's spot if he leaves....our main issue is at center but we already know Osh is gonna hand that job to Kolo regardless of how camp plays out.

We just may be going into camp and season with a bunch of unknowns and yet to prove them selves guys...

Correct me If I’m wrong but isn’t Lawson still with the team?  He’d be an upgrade to the dline over high volume Thomas. I’m not sure how we are downgraded since we didn’t lose anyone good and we added Vaughters and a health Lawson.  We need to find some rookies who are better than the previous crop.

As we've been talking about ad nauseum for months now.....

I'm fine with that strategy. I would rather we sign value than shiny baubles that weaken us elsewhere. Everybody wants the top 5 available FA's.....so do I....unfortunately rarely are they signed at a price that allows a TEAM to be better.

$275,000 is an overpay for Lawler

If he has a carbon copy of his last 3 years even 220 was questionable. Guy hasn't been consistently on the field since 2021.

yeah he's here....but so is Jake....and you know at the very best we can dream the reps will prob be split....which is just pathetically sad

We down graded as we lost 2 young ends with experience...could they evolved more..maybe....maybe not...but we will never know...added an over 30 yr old end to go with our other over 30 yr old end...after that currently we have....nothing...Retained an additional yr older Jake...who will continue to get worse...Have Schmeck as the main backup...who has really showed nothing...he stays but the 2 ends dont..and he costs more....Let Fox walk....still have Woods and Adams...but see above re: Jake and Schmeck in the way for reps...and u know they will get them

so yeah..we regressed bigtime on the dline...and we were no hell last yr

I see no regression whatsoever. We kept what was good, got rid of the mediocre talent and added some talent.

our mediocre talent got scooped up pretty quick tho.....even before the actual free agency...we kept Jake...and Scmeck...how do you see them as good?....there was over 200k right there to be used elswhere...sign them after thenfact..I sure they still be available

Vaughters and WJ...Both over 31...they won't be super productive never getting a solid rotation...with quality guys...not parking Jake our at end like we did...we are weaker on the dline currently...and was a sore spot last yr...No other way to slice that one up

Jake and Schmek were here last year. Regression means getting worse. Tell me how we have gotten worse.

You think Jake gonna offer more than his paltry production last yr....prob give less...thats regression or if you wanna call it running with status quo which has done nothing for you for yrs now....and if he on the roster...he will be taking reps in place of better talent...blocking an up and comer from possibly defeloping into something..Samson....and taking reps away from Lawson....You can see it as being better I guess...thats your choice

I don’t care about JT anywhere near as much as Booch but can we at least be honest and just admit you’re in favour of everything our team does no matter what? Because that’s the stance you’ve taken all year.

I love the athlete as a NI especially, and the play making skill you cant teach. But yeah, just cant build around a DB making crazy money.

I think DL could be better, 2nd de was awful. Less jake more lawson. Wr we were soo hurt and with out a proper no1 for soo long it all depends on schoen tbh. I think we will be stronger at the bottom of the core weaker at the top. But maybe more consistent.

I think that is likely. Though I am hoping we continue to fill en battled spots with league vets to push rookies at.

I agree. I think it suits us well. We need a big score from some place, but that could well be recruitment and development.

Schmek is flat lined, and jake is a year older and slower. How doe jake getting older not cause regression? It isn't significant but it is a thing.

Talent has seldom been the issue here.

use and scheme at times tho...makes talent seem less then desired

There's a real ying yang thing going on with @Booch and @GCn20

Side note, I have no issues with either poster.

I've said for about a year now that right in the middle of them is the right spot to be...

I am not in favor of everything our team does. I just won't call for coaches or GMs heads on matters of minutiae.

I think that Lawson coming back puts Jake into less reps no matter how you slice it and that is progression not regression.

Probably right. We both dig in our heels because we are passionate about our beliefs.....at times too much so. I like to think that I act as a counterpoint to a very different and vocal opinion. I would think most sensible people would be right in the middle. It is important that both sides of an argument are represented. There are many areas of concern I have with the Bombers but none of them are Jake Thomas. He is so very little of a moving part in all of this.

pretty much.....Not sure how/where we addressed the dline...If Vaughters is it...man we got schooled in FA....Nothing left now unless you wanna go Woody Barron...Oakman...Lanier....that Albright in Sask is intruiging but other than that now just a collection of scrubs...hope to hell this new scouting staff has it's game face on....as we need some legit talent that can play

AC Leonard is still available, let him juice if need be.  A combo of Willie, AC and Vaughters with a bunch of stubby guys in between doesn't offer much for the future, but adding 2 strong pass rushers would take the focus off Willie and get them through this year.

We MIGHT have upgraded our D line, but everything else looks like they're going to downgrades to me.

DL slightly better, LBers are better, Secondary worse, receivers slightly worse, OL same if not better. Not really seeing much of a difference from last year. I was hoping for a lot more out of Walters this offseason, however, I am fully cognizant it is very early into the offseason. A few years back I thought he had a pretty average to poor offseason then he pulls Bighill out of his arse a few days before TC.
