TrueBlue4ever Posted yesterday at 11:26 AM Report Posted yesterday at 11:26 AM Still one third of the season to go, but with an 8 game win streak and 7 of their next 8 against non-playoff teams, the Jets could really solidify their playoff position by the first week of March. Here are the various magic numbers (number of points combined from Jets’ points gained and opponents’ points lost) and clinching scenarios (for some perspective, if other teams continue at their current pace, the Jets only need to play .500 hockey to clinch the West) : Max points: 133 On pace for: 119 Magic # for 31st: 7 (over San Jose) Magic # for playoff spot: 34 (over Calgary) Magic # for top wildcard spot: 37 (over Vancouver) Magic # for 3rd in Central: 38 (over Colorado) Magic # for 2nd in Central: 42 (over Minnesota) Magic # for 1st in Central: 46 (over Dallas) Magic # for 1st in West: 46 (over Edmonton/Dallas) Magic # for President’s Trophy: 54* (over Washington) *not currently favoured All other teams’ positions: Washington - Max points: 134 On pace for: 119 Dallas - Max points: 126 On pace for: 107 Edmonton - Max points: 126 On pace for: 107 Vegas - Max points: 124 On pace for: 105 Carolina - Max points: 122 On pace for: 103 Minnesota - Max points: 122 On pace for: 103 Florida - Max points: 121 On pace for: 102 Toronto - Max points: 122 On pace for: 101 Los Angeles - Max points: 123 On pace for: 101 Tampa Bay - Max points: 120 On pace for: 98 Colorado - Max points: 118 On pace for: 98 New Jersey - Max points: 118 On pace for: 98 Vancouver - Max points: 117 On pace for: 94 Detroit - Max points: 115 On pace for: 91 Ottawa - Max points: 114 On pace for: 91 Calgary - Max points: 114 On pace for:89 Columbus - Max points: 112 On pace for: 88 New York Rangers - Max points: 112 On pace for: 86 Boston - Max points: 110 On pace for: 86 New York Islanders - Max points: 111 On pace for: 85 Utah - Max points: 109 On pace for: 84 Anaheim - Max points: 110 On pace for: 82 Montreal - Max points: 107 On pace for: 81 St. Louis - Max points: 107 On pace for: 81 Pittsburgh - Max points: 105 On pace for: 79 Philadelphia - Max points: 105 On pace for: 79 Seattle - Max points: 102 On pace for: 75 Buffalo - Max points: 105 On pace for:74 Nashville - Max points: 101 On pace for: 68 Chicago - Max points: 95 On pace for: 61 San Jose - Max points: 87 On pace for: 53 HardCoreBlue, captaincanuck12, Tony Fresco and 1 other 2 1 1
SpeedFlex27 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Great research. Thanks for that. Of course, we're all waiting to see what the Jets do in the playoffs. Will they have a deep run or be blown out in 5 or 6 games in the first round?

Despite their flaws, Jets have had some brutal first round pairings the last few years (St. Louis who were on a heater and won the Cup, Edmonton who we swept, Vegas who won the Cup, and our reward for a 110 point season last year was playing the 106 point Avs who were two years removed from winning the Cup). No one seems to factor that in when considering our ouster each year. Hopefully we see Vancouver, Calgary, or even Minnesota in round one this year. SpeedFlex27, Goalie and BomberBall. 2 1
captaincanuck12 Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Wow.. nice work @FrostyWinnipeg. although I will agree with the thread title. Way to Early. Jets need to win and win consistently. We can revisit this topic after Mid March

bearpants Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago I was actually thinking about this recently during the break and I wondered what a realistic magic number would be to win the west (don't care about the presidents trophy... in fact, I'd rather the Jets not win that)... I kind of settled on 16 wins... though 2 extra points would be useful... so something like 16-8-2 in the final 26... With that record, I believe Dallas, Edm, or Vegas would have to go 22-5 or 22-4 (depending on how many games they have left) to knock the Jets out of first... while it's not impossible for team to get super hot... it seems unlikely....

So what your saying is there’s gonna be atleast 1 new banner at Canada life next season.

Secure that then fingers crossed for the Wild. Would love to stomp them. Noeller 1
