HardCoreBlue Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 Face-offs need improving stat, especially in tight games. Goalie 1
Goalie Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 I’m curious if we one of the teams thinking of trading for both schenn bros. Luke the D man in Nashville and Brayden the 2C in St. Louis.

Jets 1.0 had a nine game winning streak (and combining the playoffs, a 15 game undefeated streak) back in 1984-85, but for the Thrashers/Jets2.0 franchise, 9 is the record. They had 8 to open this season and 8 to close last season (technically a 16 game win streak spanning two seasons, but the league does not regard that as one streak) and another 7 gamer this year. kelownabomberfan 1

Jets dominated good stretches and it showed in the shots (the double minor late made the shot gap closer than the zone time would suggest). They should have buried another two or three in the third period alone, Hofer and puck luck kept the.Blues in it, then a fluky broken stick leads to the double minor. Jets deserved the win, overcame some bad puck luck IMO. Having said that, I won’t disagree on Pionk’s struggles and Stanley’s usual deficiencies. Great assessment. I also think that this team looked like a team that hadn't played in 2 weeks. So rust was also an issue there. I think we've beat the dead horse on Stanley long enough... I have come to the conclusion that Arneil and Stanley are actually Mike OShea and Jake Thomas in disguise. There is no other explanation. Prove me wrong! MrFreakzilla 1

There is no other explanation. Prove me wrong! Stanley is definitely not a Thomas at this point in their respective careers. Stanley at times makes really smart plays but you just can’t trust him he will be consistent with what they need from him. Hopefully he can improve on this but the leash you would think is shortening. Thomas at this stage is just consistently a non factor on the field (game tape does not lie) who reached his full potential a few years back and has rapidly declined. Great guy, great leader just doesn’t have it athletically anymore. Goalie and captaincanuck12 2
Goalie Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 (edited) Jets don’t have a Jake Thomas. They got a Damian Jackson who at times did his job but really was taking a spot from a better player. That’s Stanley but at this point Stanley is better than heinola and fleury so you live with him. Jets need to upgrade so Stanley can be your 7th d or be traded. Heinola and Fleury appear to have lost to Stanley so says lots about them. Stanley is slow as Molasses. He’s as slow as a rider fan, dude just can’t keep up. That’s the problem there. He’s ok at the pk and being tall but he’s a bad d man. But he’s better than ville and fleury. if im Chevy I call St. Louis about parayko and b schenn. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Josh and parayko make sense to me. If it means having to move pionk then do it cuz salo is ready to take a spot. rhd parayko Demelo Miller (Salo) lhd Josh Samberg and trade a pick or prospect to Nashville for Luke Schenn. and maybe pick up a depth LHD better than whichever of Stanley ville fleury you prob don’t trade. There’s a guy in Vancouver who looks like he needs a change of scenery, Carson Soucy. Edited February 23 by Goalie
captaincanuck12 Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Given Pionks and Stanley's performance on Saturday evening, in St. Louis no less, I can't see Doug Armstrong eagerly working out a trade for them. Jets would have to pay a pretty penny for Schenn and Parayko. @HardCoreBlue yes Jackson would be the more applicable analogy.
