From Jeff Bannon's FB page, there was a discussion about Kevin Glenn's .700 winning percentage since coming to Calgary. Someone called out Kelly for cutting him, and lo and behold, Kelly showed up and explained himself:

Mike Kelly you're welcome Cary! Kevin got himself in shape, lost the braces and became focused again so I'm glad the change of scenery motivated him to improve...now I'm sure you also understand the business side of those decisions too, right? Each year is different and there are a lot of things you simply do not know. Our record from 2009 would be a play-off team this year so it's pretty difficult to give equal measure to different years. 2009 Montreal was 15-3, what are the now? Toronto was 3-15 what are they now? 3 of the last 4 years the Bomber record has been less than 2009 and the lone season it was better they went 3-7 in the last 10 where we won more than we lost after Labor Day...LeFors surgery went well by the way but he has chosen to coach high school football and doing quite well...enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend!!

Doesn't really explain anything. But he's certainly correct that the bombers are worse now than when he coached.

of course Toronto and Hamilton are much better than they were back then too so which is the reality?

Bottom line Kelly thought that booting an unpopular kevin glenn would score him points with the fans. Guy is that egotistical he wanted everyone to fall at his feet praising his brilliance.

Kelly's largest flaw, by FAR, is as a human being. All the on field stuff is almost forgivable, but who he is as a person....that's what ruined him for me.

Kelly could have been a good coach and maybe GM as well if he had been able to put aside the ego, but that ego was so out of control he was actively hurting the team in a vain attempt to prove to people that he was a brilliant GM/HC

Nice try, Mike.

You cut him because you thought he wasnt a leader and questioned his desire, if not his heart. Its in the interview Friesen (who didn't question a single accusation) first did with you when you. It's out there.

Taman was not demoted when Kelly was hired. He quit because he didn't want to work with the guy. There was no GM, Bauer had decided he would oversee football ops and Kelly, Murphy and Hodgkinson.

He was demoted and then later decided to quit.
