Valderan_CA Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 FROM TSN - But Toronto's Gerald Riggs had the first touchdown in the $200-million stadium, a 20-yard run at 1:49 of the second to make it 7-3. --- 16-17 minutes into the game our starting defensive guys were for the most part already out of the game right? Sounds to me like our starting defense held up pretty well (especially considering we had turnovers in our own end) against T.O.s backups.
Atomic Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 The starters played pretty well, not allowing a first down on T.O.'s first two drives, but then Harris came back with a couple 25+ yard completions in a row on their third possession and that's probably what had Burke so fired up. Resulted in a missed field goal after the defence held, but that was still the starters vs. a backup QB.
DR. CFL Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Not sure who came up with this gentleman's agreement and the nine blitz business? That is garbage. Milanovich told Burke.... So be it, there is whatever part of that agreement that holds water. Just as you need to evaluate the skills of your D front you also need to access the abilities of individuals to perform in your blitz package. Not everyone is or can be an effe give blitzed. Again, an equal part of player evaluation.
do or die Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Or, as an alternative approach: You blitz our QB.....we kill yours.
DR. CFL Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Great way to manage a team, players and an organization. What not offer up a Big Mac as a bounty for a sack, and a Happy Meal for taking a QB out if a game?
bluto Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 of course we are going to blitz. it's rare that we just rush with the D-Line. hell, it's rare that we let our Ends rush all out at all (ask Ricky Foley). we're always bringing someone to blitz from somewhere. we may as well practice it since it's all we do...

If Ray had been dressed I would have offered a guaranteed spot on the roster for the year for anyone who put him in traction. I am that sick of Torontos ****. bluto 1
iso_55 Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 As much as I understand & agree with the way Burke is handling Buck... However, football is a collision sport. No room for pansies out there at the pro level. Buck should be playing.

No room for pansies out there at the pro level. Buck should be playing. yeah that's part of the frustration. If we have to pull the guy cause he's taken a few hits then how in the world can we expect him to lead this team?
do or die Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Hey, I ment "kill" in the football vernacular.....was not suggesting cheap shots...... But as far as the blitz thing - you can either block/pickup on it....or just blitz the hell out of their team. Either option is preferable.....to doing nothing about it....well, except to jerk Buck out like a sheet, and then whine about the Argos, afterwards.
iso_55 Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 i didn't know that we played touch football in the exhibition season. Burke's remarks about Toronto not supposed to blitz was feeble.

Blitzing is fine, but you lose the benefit of the doubt when that's all you do vs. Buck and then stop when he's done for the night...
iso_55 Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Blitzing is fine, but you lose the benefit of the doubt when that's all you do vs. Buck and then stop when he's done for the night... Well, mission accomplished. The Argos got Buck pulled so he didn't play. Next time when it's for real, it'll just be worse. The Argos won the physical & psychological battle as well as the war on Weds. Has anyone thought that is why the team played so badly? The HC gave up by throwing the white flag on Buck. So, why shouldn't the players?
Mr Dee Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 I think you're underestimating the will of the players.
SmokinBlue Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 We saw just how little will most of them have last year.
