Captain Blue Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 http://www.bluebombers.com/article/blue-bombers-release-defensive-back-jonathan-hefney Well there's one big move so far. Not completely shocking and I'm in favour of it. Hefney's play had dropped, and obviously he's made some bad headlines.
Captain Blue Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Honestly not completely surprised by this. Let's look at what was working against him: - Decreased play last year - Made some negative headlines with Twitter - Burke unhappy with the veteran defensive backs - Hefney's pot charge comes out - Bombers look awful on Wednesday Obviously not all those are weighted equally but things piled up against him.
kelownabomberfan Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 According to Bob Irving on Twitter, the Bombers feel Hef has lost a step...
bluto Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 place your bets... Hamilton, Toronto, Saskatchewan...? an eastern team looking to rip-off Burke's playbook? or nobody willing to take in a problem child?
Captain Blue Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 place your bets... Hamilton, Toronto, Saskatchewan...? an eastern team looking to rip-off Burke's playbook? or nobody willing to take in a problem child? I think Eastern - Hamilton or Toronto.
Jpan85 Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 According to Bob Irving on Twitter, the Bombers feel Hef has lost a step... he says at 28 he lost a step. I turned 29 last week I guess it's all down hill from here!!
Arnold_Palmer Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Swaggerville patrients are running thin! Jovo you feeling nervous son?
Zontar Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Could he fit Austin's team "culture" ? He's never actually explained what it is so I can't tell you. Money would be the big thing for any team interested.
bluto Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 According to Bob Irving on Twitter, the Bombers feel Hef has lost a step... well they weren't likely to say his play had improved after cutting him. in this case i'd say they were right that his play had dropped off... "lost a step" implies that his athleticism has faded which would be weird in a 28 year old. pardon me while i go sift through the other Hefney thread and read about how he could be traded for multiple picks since he'd pretty much walk into any other team's starting 12... saskbluefan 1
Jpan85 Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 BC could be a good fit don't know if they have the room for him though!
JuranBoldenRules Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 place your bets... Hamilton, Toronto, Saskatchewan...? an eastern team looking to rip-off Burke's playbook? or nobody willing to take in a problem child? This is a wayyyy overstated phenomenon. The only way that type of information would be useful would be if a guy was in on practice the week of the game, was cut the day before the game and picked up by the other team knowing the game plan and anything out of the ordinary that might be coming. Especially for what a guy like Hefney would know. Defences (Burke especially) don't use that many coverages and everyone has the film to see what teams are doing anyways.
Mr. Perfect Posted June 15, 2013 Author Report Posted June 15, 2013 I'm personally happy to see him gone. His antics were more than enough. I won't be shedding any tears if Jovon follows whenever his time with the team comes to an end.
Arnold_Palmer Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Sask will take him. Taman only recruits former Bombers.

AKAChip Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Can't say I'm thrilled about this, especially since he looked decent in very limited action in the preseason game and this was hardly enough time to get enough of the details about the weed charge too. Hefney is 5x the DB Jovon will ever be and yet he sticks around while Hef takes the fall. I really can't quite put my finger on it but this just doesn't sit well with me at all. The timing is incredibly weird and it most certainly makes our team worse.
Jpan85 Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Like the cut timing a lot more than last year with Kent. Have almost weeks to figure out the next one into the spot.
JuranBoldenRules Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 If Hefney has lost a step, how many has Jovon lost? 3? Blue-urns 1
rebusrankin Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Surprised by this. Would have liked them to trade him if needed but felt he deserved a chance to start the season with the team. Don't like his antics but he's a freaking good halfback. I think he ends up in Saskatchewan or Toronto.

AKAChip Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 If Hefney has lost a step, how many has Jovon lost? 3? I would argue Jovon never had any steps to begin with, just quite a few well-timed INTs.
