Mr. Perfect Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Multiple tweets from media types saying Chris Jones will be the next coach of the Edmonton Eskimos. Thoughts?
Noeller Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 ...the hell.....what happened to Hughey Jr?
Mr Dee Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Edmonton could be his team of the year. It hard to keep up with that Jones.
Noeller Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 ...and for what it's worth, Madani says "If Jones is indeed Esks new HC, look for Doug Berry to be his OC..."
iso_55 Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Guess he got tired of pal-ing around with his buddy Scott. He was under contract to the Stamps & the minute Milanovich was hired, he phoned the guy from his office at McMahon Stadium & said please hire me. As they were former roommates he wanted to coach with his friend. When John Hufnagel found out, he hit the roof. Story goes, Huff & Jones almost came to blows. Be interesting to see how many players Jones signs away from the Argos like he did with the Stamps like Robert McCune, Brandon Issac & Demetrice Morley.
sweep the leg Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 ...and for what it's worth, Madani says "If Jones is indeed Esks new HC, look for Doug Berry to be his OC..." That would be a hard-ass, unlikeable pair of coaches.
Noeller Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Yeah, I was thinking "assholes stick together"...
Jacquie Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 I'm really not sure about Chris Jones as a HC. He's too volatile for my liking.
iso_55 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 One thing's for certain, Jones won't be a media favourite in Edmonton. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who is all warm & fuzzy.
Tracker Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Some of the best coaches in various sports were disliked (but feared) by most of their players, but worked their butts off and even won a lot of games. Coaches would rather have the obedience and respect of their players than be best buddies with them or the media. Lets hope for competence instead of likeability- there are not too many Mike Rileys out there.
braddman19 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 If that happened, wouldn't the next successor in Tor possibly be O'Shea for DC?

iso_55 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Would this open up a spot as a DC for Tim Burke in TO? Burke & Milanovich did coach together with the Als.
Jpan85 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Wade still had a grin on his face tonight. Things will be turned around there will be a quarterback doning a 17 jersey next year in blue and gold. Noeller 1
B-F-F-C Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Me thinks Hervey may have just hired his eventual replacement.
17to85 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Me thinks Hervey may have just hired his eventual replacement. I had the exact same thought.
Zontar Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 So far the jump from DC to HC has been littered with their corpses. Not sold if this a good hire. Better than what they had - which isnt saying much.

Atomic Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Would this open up a spot as a DC for Tim Burke in TO? Burke & Milanovich did coach together with the Als. I could see this.
Mr Dee Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Me thinks Hervey may have just hired his eventual replacement. Hire up the food chain..so to speak. Problem is I get the impression these guys might be doing the igloo shuffle before too long. Who's going to bend to who's will. It's lucky for Jones that Hervey is such an even-keel GM who doesn't meddle. Ever. (Oh...'cept for that one time)
Guest Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Me thinks Hervey may have just hired his eventual replacement. I thought the exact same thing when I heard the news.
iso_55 Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 Me thinks Hervey may have just hired his eventual replacement. I thought the exact same thing when I heard the news. But he.... Jones ....doesn't know the Eskimo Way. It would be a crime. Well, speaking of crimes they had Tillman.
Mr. Perfect Posted November 25, 2013 Author Report Posted November 25, 2013 Because David Braley has a pristine record when it comes to ethics.... Dave Campbell @Dave_CHED58s So David Braley isn't happy the #Eskimos called to speak with Chris Jones before GC. Reports say the Bombers called too. Big deal. #CFL
