B-F-F-C Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Pffffffffffft....it's not like Jones was coaching in the Grey Cup. The ban is with respect to making media announcements during Grey Cup week which could take attention away from the festivities. But I'm sure there's a lot of talk during that week between teams.
HardCoreBlue Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Some of the best coaches in various sports were disliked (but feared) by most of their players, but worked their butts off and even won a lot of games. Coaches would rather have the obedience and respect of their players than be best buddies with them or the media. Lets hope for competence instead of likeability- there are not too many Mike Rileys out there. No, it's not one (hard assed) or the other (players coach). It's a combination of both knowing when to use one over the other at appropriate times.
17to85 Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Because David Braley has a pristine record when it comes to ethics.... Dave Campbell @Dave_CHED58s So David Braley isn't happy the #Eskimos called to speak with Chris Jones before GC. Reports say the Bombers called too. Big deal. #CFL Commisioner Braley is probably just upset. Likely wants to try for a Braley Bowl next year in Vancouver and if the argos lose coaches they might not be able to get there. Mr. Perfect 1
Floyd Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 SO no confirmation on this yet, right?

Atomic Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Official! Edmonton Eskimos @cfl_esks11m BREAKING NEWS: Chris Jones named #Esks head coach. Full details here: http://bit.ly/1hiiplH #CFL
Mike Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Curious to see how this works out for Edmonton. I think I've gone a bit sour on ace defensive coordinators making the move to head coach. Stubler and Burke, among others ... it's just not a good run on those guys lately.
TrueBlue Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 He has been to post season in each of his 12 years in the league, including seven division finals and six Grey Cup appearances with Montreal, Calgary and Toronto, winning in 2002, 2008 and 2012. Impressive. http://www.esks.com/article/chris-jones-named-head-coach-of-the-edmonton-eskimos

He was a DC... I suppose he wasn't really an "ace" DC, per se... Benevides also seems to be working out somewhat well.

I am mostly interested in seeing how Jones and Hervey work. Seems to me that Jones has some management ambitions as well so if Hervey continues to be a clown do we see a power struggle? iso_55 and DR. CFL 2
DR. CFL Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Is Maas far behind as The OC in Edm.

bluto Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Hervey just made himself a much better GM. Jones has had autonomy to pick his own players and has found some good ones.

Wouldn't surprise me that in a year's time, Jones is also GM. Hervey out the door.
JuranBoldenRules Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Does Edmonton even have a president right now? Scary that Hervey has total autonomy there. That is a guy who is clearly overwhelmed.
iso_55 Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 They do have a President but I forget his name. Is it Rich Lamoreaux?
Guest Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Len Rhodes is the President and C.E.O of the Eskimos.
iso_55 Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Len Rhodes is the President and C.E.O of the Eskimos. Thanks for that.
Blueandgold Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Len Rhodes is the President and C.E.O of the Eskimos. He won't last much longer than Buchko did here.
Guest Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Len Rhodes is the President and C.E.O of the Eskimos. He won't last much longer than Buchko did here. He already has, Rhodes was hired on Dec 1st, 2011. Buchko was hired on Jan 5 2012, and only officially took over on March 1st 2012.
Guest Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 It sounds as though Berry might be the new OC in Edmonton, so I'm now hoping/wondering if O'Shea does get the HC job here, if he might entice Maas to come over as OC.
gbill2004 Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 Is Maas ready to be an OC? I'd think it would help recruit Collaros.
