Mr. Perfect Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Arash Madani @ArashMadani1m BREAKING: Have learned Rick Campbell will be the inaugural head coach of the Ottawa #RedBlacks. Done deal. To be made official Friday. #CFL
The Unknown Poster Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Surprised. I really though Paul Lapolice would get the gig.
Mr. Perfect Posted December 5, 2013 Author Report Posted December 5, 2013 A little off the board here IMO. I was thinking Lapo was going to get the job, or Marcel.
Mike Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Out of the short list they had cut it down to, he's far and away the best candidate in my opinion. DR. CFL, Blue-urns and comedygeek 3
M.O.A.B. Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 another opening for DC in Calgary.... O'shea better fill his coordinator position fast... let's see if the Riders and Ticats OC/DC/ST positions remains intact.
Atomic Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Out of the short list they had cut it down to, he's far and away the best candidate in my opinion. Agreed. Great choice, IMO.
B-F-F-C Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 I like Rick Campbell and I think is a good choice. I'm sure they're hoping he brings that "Midas Touch" his father had. DR. CFL 1
Captain Blue Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 I think LaPo would have been my hire there.
Noeller Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Really thought that Lapo had the buzz because of his TSN gig. People seem to see "On TSN" as "Highly Credible" for some reason. Hmmm...gotta think he'll get a co-ordinator spot somewhere.

B-F-F-C Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Calgary will probably promote Mark Kilam to DC. He's been their STC for a few years but was also their asst DC with the team and LB's coach. He's very well regarded within the organization.
kelownabomberfan Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 So what does Lapo do now? Take an OC gig? His Bomber gravy train is finally over so he has to get a real job somewhere.
M.O.A.B. Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 So what does Lapo do now? Take an OC gig? His Bomber gravy train is finally over so he has to get a real job somewhere. he can retain his TSN gig actually.

I would suspect the TSN thing is way less than 100Gs

Yeah of course but that was just a supplement to his BB salary he was still collecting. Not sure you can live off of a 2 minute segment 4 times a weekend, especially on a Canadian sports network, and with three hungry children to feed now.
Mike Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 the REDBLACKS just announced they will be making a MAJOR announcement AT 11 in the MORNING tomorrow, probably to ANNOUNCE Rick CAMPBELL as the new HEAD COACH. Mr. Perfect 1
voodoochylde Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 The Ottawa ALLCAPS are making moves .. like it ..
max power Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 I believe the correct spelling is REDBLACKS.
iso_55 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Surprised. I really though Paul Lapolice would get the gig. I guess he didn't have the suit...
iso_55 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 I believe the correct spelling is REDBLACKS. Ugh.... Hate it.
iso_55 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 the REDBLACKS just announced they will be making a MAJOR announcement AT 11 in the MORNING tomorrow, probably to ANNOUNCE Rick CAMPBELL as the new HEAD COACH. Surprise here by fans & media in Calgary. Everyone thought he was going to Edmonton. When they hired Jones everyone thought he'd be coming back. He was a so so DC in Edmonton but a very good one here so hard to judge if he's the right guy or the best candidate available. Again, like Jones in Edmonton, O'Shea here & now supposedly Campbell in Ottawa, all rookie head coaches. No one knows if that's a good or bad thing. Only time will tell.
Mr. Perfect Posted December 5, 2013 Author Report Posted December 5, 2013 Possibly going to Ottawa with his history with Campbell? Jim Toth @JimTothSports43s #CFL announces Tom Higgins is leaving his position as Director of Officiating immediately to pursue a coach or management position.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Possibly going to Ottawa with his history with Campbell? Jim Toth @JimTothSports43s #CFL announces Tom Higgins is leaving his position as Director of Officiating immediately to pursue a coach or management position. Wow.....He would look good in Blue and Gold as an OC

Wow.....He would look good in Blue and Gold as an OC Defensive Coordinator.... He was a linebacker in the CFL. That was his history as a coach also.
