Floyd Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Of course... Etienne isn't exactly a tough negotiation, I mean its not like he's due a hefty raise or anything Still think that ottawa takes a few flyers on free sagents... I mean half of these guys only have a year left on contracts anyway Plus ottawa must have a list of potential FAs who are likely to sign and others who have too many ties to their team's city... If I'm ottawa, I'd be looking at thomas, kohlert or carter... I can't see desjardins going for poblah Either way, the NIs picked from wpg will likely end up as depth...

He is if he ends up wanting to move back to his hometown and play for Saskatchewan.

Carter can't be picked, pretty sure he ended the year on the PR.
Floyd Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Great news about carter. Maybe teague sherman then? We really don't have much to choose from... And the groan was for the sask argument...
Logan007 Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Great news about carter. Maybe teague sherman then? We really don't have much to choose from... And the groan was for the sask argument... Hey, I'm just saying. That's the only thing that would keep him out of Winnipeg. Gives him at least some leverage on the bargaining table.

That's cool so if Ottawa can't pickup the guys on PR then these guys are safe: Brown, Levi Moody, Semaj Killeen, Jake Howard, Cordaro Reed, Taylor Allard, Shea Paliwoda, Terriss Carter, Brett
Noeller Posted December 10, 2013 Author Report Posted December 10, 2013 Interesting note that the draft is going to be carried live on CFL.ca. Might be neat to follow...
Mike Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 They're not really "safe" because they're not our property. You end the year on the practice squad, you're a free agent.

Jpan85 Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 They can sign at anytime too right. Don't have to wait till the Feb. 15. After 2007 season that's how we almost got Getzlaf.
JuranBoldenRules Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 I'd be shocked if Etienne is available in round 3. We literally have no one to protect.
JuranBoldenRules Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Griggs didn't show enough to deserve to be protected. I'd protect Anderson and McAdoo ahead of him, Anderson is the most valuable of the 3, finding import pure pass rushers is easier than finding running backs now.
B-F-F-C Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 I would hate to loose Kohlert but he's on an expiring contract, isn't he? I would hope he has a contract in front of him right now just in case he doesn't get picked by the REDBLACKS.
iso_55 Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 With our (lack of) Canadian talent how do you not protect him? Would the Bombers run the risk of having him drafted? Maybe but.... he may be one of the easier free agent players to re-sign as he's not looking for the CFL's version of a gold mine like Henoc Muamba. Taman may or may not go after him...We'll see.
James Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 like other have stated, I have no idea why you would protect JD Griggs over Zach Anderson.
