Floyd Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 CFL News @CFL_News53m Either Barron Miles or Greg Marshall will be the new defensive co-ordinator for the #Bombers. #CFL
Zontar Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Marshall. You've got enough rookies to nursemaid.
blitzmore Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 No way do I want Marshall Blue-urns 1
DR. CFL Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 It would be interesting to watch O'Shea try and manage Marshall especially if they have philosophical differences on running a defense.
The Unknown Poster Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 if they have a lot of wide differences, one would suspect Mike would not hire Marshal. Im torn. I like the idea of getting a young, dynamic guy. But who knows what kind of DC he will be. With Marshal, you know what you're getting. Is it a flashy, aggresive style we all love? No. But he's been successful. He's very experienced. Does anyone know what we could expect with Miles?
IC Khari Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 I'm saying go rookie (like we did with HC, GM, CEO etc), we know what we've got already in Marshall. Blue-urns 1
braddman19 Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Go with Miles. We have started pretty much from scratch by giving a lot of guys their first cracks, so why not have a rookie DC who could turn some heads.
kelownabomberfan Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Yeah no thanks on Marshall. He can go and work with Lapo on TSN, and take Kavis with him. Perhaps they could host "Consequences" - a new CFL show on TSN that would air in the West so we wouldn't have to watch Landsberg's awful show.
17to85 Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 I'm just glad it's not Etchevary. This comes down to the "safe" pick vs. gambling on a rookie, i'll trust O'Shea to pick the best guy for what he figures he needs.
blitzmore Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Marshall's Defensive Coordinators Stats for discussion https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwwreIy1lMULU0FsdkplcUo1OTA/edit?usp=sharing average 25.55 pts against per game career
Guest Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Just hoping that it won't end up being Marshall, but funny enough preferred Marshall over Etch and Reed. I suppose one concern with bringing in Miles is how much young blood is too much type of thing, but I have faith that O'Shea will bring in whomever he feels can provide the defense that will help lead to wins.
Mr Dee Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 It all starts with the Barron. In fact, we should hire Miles Gorrell away from the new Ottawa entry. Then, at least, according to the Who, we'll have the best vision in the CFL.
Armchair GM Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Don't buy the argument that Miles is a rookie. You don't play 12 seasons at an all-star level in the CFL, plus college ball, and be considered a rookie. This is a guy who played at an advanced level, and his coaching success to present is at an advanced level. My preference is to embrace the rebuild, and start building a winning culture. O'Shea comes from a winning culture in TO... I take culture and pedigree over experience at DC. Miles would be my choice. Blue-urns 1
Captain Blue Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 This shouldn't even be a close race...The wildcard that is Barron Miles is the better option in my opinion over the continually overrated Greg Marshall. Blue-urns 1
iso_55 Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 This one is tough. Experience over youth. Hard to say. Leave that one up to O'Shea.
rebusrankin Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Miles would be my pick. Already have an uninspiring choice as DC.
Floyd Posted December 27, 2013 Author Report Posted December 27, 2013 I think it will be Miles... especially with his scouting experience in BC Still haven't really heard if Dickenson is staying or not - but MB, Miles and Dickenson would be a solid core of assistants
sweep the leg Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Miles for DC & Marshall for DL coach. Blue-urns 1
M.O.A.B. Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Miles for DC & Marshall for DL coach. This. I dont mind both here. Miles as DC and Marshall as either DL or LB coach.
iso_55 Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 I think it will be Miles... especially with his scouting experience in BC Still haven't really heard if Dickenson is staying or not - but MB, Miles and Dickenson would be a solid core of assistants Dickenson rumoured to be going to Edmonton to be the STC there. I don't think the season ended fast enough for Craig here & he wanted out. Who could blame him?
Blueandgold Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Please for the love of Bomber fans everywhere please pick Miles. I'm surprised Kavis didn't even an interview.
NotoriousBIG Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 The Miles as DC, Marshall as LB/DL would be okay. Would feel a lot better about this if we had a really good OC. The Bellefailure hire was a real buzz kill.
Mr. Perfect Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Miles, and it shouldn't be close. Blue-urns 1
Jacquie Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Dickenson rumoured to be going to Edmonton to be the STC there. I don't think the season ended fast enough for Craig here & he wanted out. Who could blame him? You're making a few assumptions there. Blue-urns 1
