Jpan85 Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 MontrealAlouettes.com MONTREAL - The Alouettes announced on Monday that the club has added a trio of non-import linemen to the roster. Defensive end Ameet Pall and offensive tackle Ryan White — both Montrealers — have agreed to new two- and three-year deals, respectively, while offensive lineman Jake Piotrowski has also signed on for two years. Pall (6'0'', 245 lbs.), played an integral role in the Alouettes' blocking schemes on special teams and recorded three tackles in ten games during his two-year tenure in his hometown. A former first-round (fifth overall) draft pick of the Calgary Stampeders in 2012, the Wofford College product was later picked up by the Alouettes and saw his first CFL action that same year on September 9 against the B.C. Lions. "We are happy that Ameet has decided to re-sign. He is a hard worker on and off the field, is very proud of Montreal, and is committed to excellence," explained Alouettes General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp. The 26-year-old who helped the Vanier Cheetahs win the Bol d'Or twice while in CEGEP, spent the majority of the 2013 season on the team's injured list. He has also been involved in various Alouettes community programs, including Together at School with CN and the Alouettes. White (6'4, 290 lbs.), returned to the Alouettes practice roster last September after spending his rookie 2012 season also on the PR, giving the team more depth at the offensive tackle position as well as at guard. “Ryan continues to develop and has made strides this past season,” said Popp. "He is very talented and has the ability to play both OL and DL for us.” White, who played collegiately at Bishop’s, was selected by the Alouettes in the sixth-round (44th overall) of the 2012 Canadian Canadian Draft. White anchored the left tackle position for the Gaitors and started 16 of 17 regular-season games for the club in 2009 and in 2010. Piotrowski (6'4, 293 lbs.) re-signs with Montreal after attending the team’s training camp in 2013. The Shanty Bay, ON native was selected in the fifth round (41st overall) by the Alouettes in last spring’s CFL Canadian Draft. At the conclusion of training camp, the offensive tackle returned to the University of Guelph earning OUA All Star honours with the Gryphons. “We were excited to get Piotrowski in the draft last season,” added Popp. "We knew he had an injury that would preclude him from playing for us in 2013 but we took him as a future. We felt that he has great athletic ability and size to develop into a professional player.” He also showcased his versatility on the offensive line during his time spent with the University of Guelph by starting the 2010 and 2011 seasons at two different positions - right guard and left tackle
Jpan85 Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Report: McPherson could be headed back to CFL THE CANADIAN PRESS CALGARY -- A league source requesting anonymity said Monday that veteran quarterback Adrian McPherson could be returning to the CFL, signing with the Calgary Stampeders. McPherson, 30, spent five seasons with the Montreal Alouettes (2008-12) and earned Grey Cup rings in '09 and '10 before being released. The six-foot-three, 220-pound native of Bradenton, Fla., spent last season with the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League. The addition of McPherson certainly fills a need for Calgary, which lost veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn to the expansion Ottawa REDBLACKS last month. Glenn's departure left the Stampeders with former starter Drew Tate and impressive youngster Bo Levi Mitchell under centre.
sweep the leg Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Dan Ralph is saying the Stamps have signed Adrian MacPherson.
DR. CFL Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Good number 3 that you hope you don't need to play full time.
kelownabomberfan Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Good number 3 that you hope you don't need to play full time. yeah, the number three on the depth chart is going to be known soon as the "Joey Elliott" position. At least, on good teams. On Winnipeg, it could be known as "starting in Week 2" position.
Jpan85 Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Kirk Penton @PentonKirk 1m Word on the #CFL street is kicker Justin Medlock is going back to the Hamilton #Tiger-Cats.
Mike Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Jesus, you can sure tell CFL execs ended their vacation today.
DR. CFL Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Everywhere but Winnipeg it seems. Come on guys wake up.
Mike Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Everywhere but Winnipeg it seems. Come on guys wake up. ... and BC. ... and Saskatchewan. ... and Edmonton. Come on DR CFL wake up.
gbill2004 Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Aren't the Bomber offices closed for a few more days?
DR. CFL Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 I'm more concerned about what other teams are doing and not who else is doing squat. When you are on the bottom you should be fighting harder to get in the game than anyone else. I am wide awake! M.O.A.B. 1
Mr Dee Posted January 6, 2014 Author Report Posted January 6, 2014 That's one for, and one angst. ***** Also: Arash Madani @ArashMadani2h If you're watching tonight's national championship game, a quick nugget: The #CFL rights to Auburn QB Nick Marshall belong to the #Eskimos.

Dirty30 Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 I expect Drew Tate to be traded shortly after this deal becomes official. Collaros and Tate would be a nice tandem.
rebusrankin Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Depends on the cost of Tate. Guy is glass.
ALuCsRED Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 I can't understand how Ryan White can be a dual sport athlete in Montreal. Playing on the 4th line for the Canadiens and also playing on the O-line for the Allouettes. Crazy Stuff! Mr Dee 1
Dirty30 Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Depends on the cost of Tate. Guy is glass. He'd be nice insurance for Collaros. Ideally Willy and Collaros would be my first choice. Burris and Willy too. I just can't see a Burris and Collaros combo. I have a feeling we end up with whatever Hamilton leaves us. kelownabomberfan 1
Brandon Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 So no jokes about Pall being 5th overall pick only for them to instantly cut him and Montreal signing him? Or is it only Mack picks that can be forever mocked? Blueandgold 1
DR. CFL Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 He had a significant injury and Calgary wanted to pr him or 9 game him. He wouldn't do it so they cut him and Mtl picked him up .

Blueandgold Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 So no jokes about Pall being 5th overall pick only for them to instantly cut him and Montreal signing him? Or is it only Mack picks that can be forever mocked? Not to mention that Wally used first round picks on two huge busts, Danny Watkins and Jamal Lee in consecutive years. For all of Joe Mack's issues, I thought his drafting was actually decent.
Mr Dee Posted January 7, 2014 Author Report Posted January 7, 2014 TSN reports: Will they allow coach's challenges for pass interference calls? Johnson understands the frustration when it comes to this penalty and isn't making any guarantees that drastic changes are on their way, but said that on the agenda is, "how we get better at that rule." Johnson wanted to emphasis that he is still moving into his new office and his game plan is in the first draft stage, but immediately stated that, "there are three areas that I would like to work on." He also wanted to make it clear off the top that all discussions would of course include the CFL Officials Association, the CFL Players Association, and the board of governors, because changes cannot be made without their input and cooperation. 1) "The language used to instruct our officials has to be the same language we use when explaining those rules to coaches, players and the fans of the game." 2) The second item on the agenda for Johnson is to look at ways to expand replay. 3) He referenced again the fact that professional football is a performance based business for everyone involved including the officials, and wants to make his third priority making sure that week in and week out the best refs available are on the field. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=440553
