Guest Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 That's some good news, I wonder if the list will also include non CFL guys.
gbill2004 Posted January 24, 2014 Author Report Posted January 24, 2014 That's some good news, I wonder if the list will also include non CFL guys. I hope not. After the Gary Crowton mess, we need guys with CFL experience.
iso_55 Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I think an inexperienced American DC can adjust better to the CFL than an inexperienced OC. Just the motion & rules, etc. Offense is a whole different situation. Tim Tibesar is an interesting option. Who knows, maybe Orlando Steinhauer will come available?
Guest Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 That's some good news, I wonder if the list will also include non CFL guys. I hope not. After the Gary Crowton mess, we need guys with CFL experience. Crowton was a Mack and Lapo hire, Walters and O'Shea deserve a bit more credit, but I understand where you're coming from. I'm not crazy about having too many rookies in the football ops department either.............Tisbear's name is still out there as well.
17to85 Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I'd rather take a chance on a rookie DC than waste time with a guy like Etchevary who has proven to not be good enough. TBURGESS, Fred C Dobbs and Blueandgold 3
iso_55 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Maybe the longer this process goes on, the less of a chance the Etch hire is. kelownabomberfan 1
Mr. Perfect Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 gary lawless @garylawless1m Expect #bombers to name Gary Etchevery as DC and he'll bring in Nelson Martin to coach DBs. Deals in final stages of completion. #bn
Atomic Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Well Nelson Martin coached Hamilton's secondary in 2012 so you know he's good
17to85 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 This coaching staff just gets less and less inspiring as time goes on.
Mike Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Nelson Martin and Gary Etcheverry? Henry Burris? I'm starting to lose interest. And it's not even February. Blueandgold, rebusrankin, Mr. Perfect and 3 others 6
rebusrankin Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Remember when we were excited about O'Shea. Then we got Marcel. Now possibly these two. If the diehards are upset, imagine what the average fan thinks.
gbill2004 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 Our offense will be stronger than our defense this season.
Mr Dee Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Man, I step out for awhile, come back and read all the negativity here on this thread, I thought I was back on that old site, sourbombers or something like that. Right now, at this point in time, I think we're making it a bigger issue than it needs to be. blitzmore 1
Jpan85 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Well Nelson Martin coached Hamilton's secondary in 2012 so you know he's good Was also the DB coach last year to be fair. The TiCat secondary preformed better as the year went on. Also continues with the all Canadian staff.
TBURGESS Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Bombers-hire-Etcheverry-as-defensive-co-ordinator-242655581.html Semi official
17to85 Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Remember when we were excited about O'Shea. Then we got Marcel. Now possibly these two. If the diehards are upset, imagine what the average fan thinks. Can't be worse than the last bunch of losers? Seriously the average fan doesn't know crap about anything.

I don't think the average fan even knows who our coordinators are, let alone holds an opinion on them.
RagingIce Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Not my first choice, but I'm willing to hold judgement until they get a chance to prove themselves Mr Dee 1
Guest Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Very disappointing news if true, bringing in Martin I have no issue with, but Etch as DC worries me. Well Nelson Martin coached Hamilton's secondary in 2012 so you know he's goodWas also the DB coach last year to be fair. The TiCat secondary preformed better as the year went on. Also continues with the all Canadian staff. It seems as though Creehan was the biggest factor behind Hamilton's crappy defense.
Blueandgold Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 At least we can look forward to the ship being blown up this time next year...
ALuCsRED Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Why do we cry for change, and then complain about the change 2 seconds after it was announced? Our 2013 staff lead our team to a 3-15 record, where we were only competitive in about 6 or 8 games. What of last years fiasco do you want to repeat? Mr Dee and blitzmore 2
Atomic Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 The best move in times of supposed crisis is to do nothing at all, which is why Wally Buono didn’t call Korey Banks Wednesday after the Lions veteran restated his desire to be granted his release by the Lions. No sense in adding fuel to the fire, as your mother probably once said. But to suggest the Lions are doing nothing to alter their roster for the upcoming season would be also inaccurate, as it was made quite clear that trade talks are underway in order to gain some value for a 34-year-old, five-time league all-star, which when you think about it, is not unlike how a similar situation involving Geroy Simon ended almost exactly a year ago. Buono wouldn’t confirm specifics, notably one rumor so far that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are willing to cough up a low-round draft pick in order to pair Banks with their expected new defensive coordinator, Gary Etcheverry. http://blogs.theprovince.com/2014/01/29/trade-winds-blowing-for-banks/
