Westy Sucks Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Who cares what Soccer fans think? Especially Soccer fans from Toronto!... Not this guy! Soccer is so gay!! And good for the Argos to get anther owner. This one guy owning 2 teams in the CFL was BS to begin with!!! That was a bigger joke than the Ray trade!
Jpan85 Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Looks like you typical soccer stadium in Europe
iso_55 Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 thank Flutie they finally announced this. been sitting on a lot for a very long time. Still not clear to me if that is where the Argos are going. Is MLSE or Larry Tanenbaum actually going to buy the team, Bluto?

You couldn't think of a better choice of words? And for the record, the billions of footie fans across the world beg to differ with you..

Based on the images the expanded seating looks as though it is only for the soccer set-up.

Beeston has brought up that the NFL games could still continue once the Jays are done, so in theory the Grey Cup could be played there as well in November. Page 7 of that pdf shows a 40,000 seat configuration for larger events like outdoor hockey or the Grey Cup. Look at the image.
iso_55 Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 Beeston has turned into such an ass regarding the CFL. At one time, he was highly thought of asa candidate for CFL Commissioner. Sour grapes, perhaps?
Jaxon Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 Personally, I like the plan for BMO field. Skydome was never a good football stadium IMHO. I'm excited to get to a CFL game in the new venue. I hope the plan works out. johnzo 1

Based on the images the expanded seating looks as though it is only for the soccer set-up. The plans call for temporary seating of 40k and the talk has always been that this would be for Winter Classics and Grey Cups... but that may be a shot across Rogers' bow to force a favourable lease rate from them for GCs since they now aren't the only place in the GTA capable of hosting it... who knows. but i'd bet it would be at BMO... and soon. a GC in TO is likely part of the deal. maybe a couple.
Jacquie Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Toronto will have to wait its turn - Winnipeg, Ottawa and Hamilton will get GCs before Toronto gets one again.
iso_55 Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Having an outdoor GC in Toronto wouldn't be that bad. I remember plenty of GC's in Hogtown where the weather was pretty good. Temps in the teens with no precip. Yeah, there's been a few championships where the weather had an affect on the game but overall it's been pretty good.

That game is legendary as was 1950 where Buddy Tinsley supposedly almost drowned face first in a puddle. And the Wind Bowl of 1965. But realistically, with all the GC's played there since 1909 the weather for the most part has been decent.
TrueBlue Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I lol'ed at the fact that of the 3 council members that opposed it, 2 were named Rob Ford and Doug Ford. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/toronto-council-approves-earmarking-10-million-toward-bmo-renovation-plan-253761011.html
iso_55 Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Maybe Ford wanted to change his vote. Pressed the wrong button you know. It's hard to hit the right one with the shakes or when he can't see the button. .
