Jpan85 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Toronto Argonauts @TorontoArgos 32s #Argos announce they have released QB @ZCollaros7 #CFL Not sure if it is to sign a NFL deal or get a head start on where he wants to go.
Mr. Perfect Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Unless there is something going on with the NFL, this makes zero sense whatsoever. You don't cut a pending FA to give other teams a chance to talk to him. You do what BC did last year with Reilly and trade his rights and get a return.
Jpan85 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 Little different this with 3 guys on the market compared to only 1. You don't have to give up an asset to get exclusive negotiation rights to get one of the 3. robynjt 1
sweep the leg Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 The qb landscape would get pretty interesting/scary in Collaros landed an NFL contract.
M.O.A.B. Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 i wonder what people will say if Walters have traded for the rights to talk to him?
sweep the leg Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 i wonder what people will say if Walters have traded for the rights to talk to him? He hasn't. As per the thread title, Collaros was released.
Floyd Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 i wonder what people will say if Walters have traded for the rights to talk to him? I definitely would not trade a pick now. You are correct.

If Walters traded for his rights, he wouldn't be Toronto's to release. Noeller 1

I said 'rights to speak' to him just like Reed did to Reilly That's not what you get when you trade for the "rights to speak" You inherit the contract. Not just the right to talk to them. You can't trade the ability to make a phone call.
Fred C Dobbs Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Doug Brown@DougBrown9711 mins Grab the cheque book, and charter the jet. Collaros is officially a free agent today. #Bombers #Work Noeller and TrueBlue 2
Jaxon Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Wow, interesting move by Barker. All I can conclude is that Barker realized that he was leaving anyway, and that he couldn't get a trade done. No point in dragging it out. Perhaps this will help the Argo's sign a neg-list QB or other prospect. We will see if the Bombers have a legit shot at Collaros now. Will he sign with someone quickly, or will it be drawn out? How much NFL interest is there? Does he sign now, as the only QB on the market with some playing time, or does he wait to see where he stacks up against other potential free agents coming out in 2 weeks (Willy, Burris) ? The day just got interesting.
robynjt Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Am I the only one who has a very hard time seeing NFL teams even taking a glance at this guy...? If he hasn't signed somewhere in the CFL by the end of the week, I'd be flabbergasted.

The day just got interesting. It certainly did get interesting, I think he will sign with someone quickly to be honest. I think if things get drawn out teams might start to look at other options more seriously because why deal with a difficult signing when there are other options? The NFL is a wildcard but if it's CFL for Collaros I'd bet he's got a new team before the end of the week.
Mike Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Somebody on the Rider forum made a good point in that letting Collaros go now clarifies the FA picture so that while Toronto may not get anything for him, they may take another team out of the hunt for some of the guys they've targeted if money gets tied up in Collaros.
Dirty30 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 If we sign Collaros can we still sign Muamba and Matthews?
sweep the leg Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 If we sign Collaros can we still sign Muamba and Matthews? Sure we can. Lots of teams have more than one good player. johnzo 1
Mr. Perfect Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Chris Matthews is easily replaceable. He isn't someone I'd be fretting over. If he signs that's great. If not, there are plenty of receivers out there to be found.
Jpan85 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 The Bombers have 16 free agents if anyone has money to spend its the Bombers IC Khari 1
NotoriousBIG Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 If we sign Collaros can we still sign Muamba and Matthews? Sure we can. Lots of teams have more than one good player. Just not the Bombers. Floyd 1
JohnnyOnTheSpot Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Did he have a bonus coming due on Feb 1? This is odd.
Blueandgold Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 If we sign Collaros can we still sign Muamba and Matthews? Sure we can. Lots of teams have more than one good player. LOL! I hope we get Collaros and not the Ticats.
