Zontar Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Whoa, that was fast. Was WPG ever really a serious contender, money -wise ?
Logan007 Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Really? Whatever you're smoking I want. Our defence this past season is a group that allowed 585 points last year (Hamilton allowed 576 in 2012), had no single player with more than two interceptions last year, and had a stretch of three weeks (weeks three through five to be exact) where they allowed over 1000 passing yards, had seven touchdown passes against, 0 picks, and QB's had a completion percentage of 85.7 per cent. Lay off on the blue and gold kool-aid sport. While I disagree with your opinion on the two defenses, I have to respect your references to drugs & kool-aid to make your point. And who doesn't like a catchy nickname like "sport". Were you watching the same games as the rest of us?
gbill2004 Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Whoa, that was fast. Was WPG ever really a serious contender, money -wise ? Winnipeg offered more money than Hamilton.
The Unknown Poster Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 I love the money argument every time someone gets signed. Like the Bombers are spending half the money as everyone else or soemthing. DR. CFL 1
sweep the leg Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Were you watching the same games as the rest of us? What I meant was that our talent is significantly better than what they had. Our D played terribly, but we mixed in some dominating performances with the stink. IMO there's a lot of talent there. That 2012 Ticats D had the least amount of talent I can remember a team ever assembling.

Jpan85 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Report Posted January 30, 2014 The only question now is what number will Kito wear with Hank taking 1.
pigseye Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Like I said, we'll see how committed to winning the Bombers are after they sign a starting QB. Backups like Collaros & Willy are still big question marks and as much as I agree with 17 on Burris, he still is the best starting QB out there.
iso_55 Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Having Hank here (if he signs) will certainly ramp up the Labour Day Sunday game in Regina as well as the Banjo Bowl. Rider fans hate Hank as much as 17 does.
Mr. Perfect Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Multiple tweets appearing now saying the Montreal is likely to take a good run at Burris as well.
M.O.A.B. Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Herb Zurkowsky @HerbZurkowsky1 25m Contrary to my earlier Tweets, have now been told #Als, indeed, could have an interest in veteran free-agent QB Henry Burris. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming 1m Burris may be a desired mentor to the #Als' young QB tandem of Troy Smith & Tanner Marsh. The vet may prefer a win-now situation in MTL.
M.O.A.B. Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 i'm afraid if we drive the money up we have not enough left to bid for Muamba.
DR. CFL Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Don't discount anyone. The smart GMs in this league know the need and value for QB depth.
M.O.A.B. Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 we probably end up with, Willy or if BC get's him too... Elliott.
Mike Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 i'm afraid if we drive the money up we have not enough left to bid for Muamba. The salary cap is almost 5 million, not 500,000. Why is there this constant notion on Bomber message boards that the Bombers can not afford more than one good player? I don't understand.
gbill2004 Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Because we're from Winnipeg...we're cheap!
DR. CFL Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 People need to stop with the cheap BS....that argument makes no sense. Mr. Perfect 1
Blueandgold Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 i'm afraid if we drive the money up we have not enough left to bid for Muamba. If we lose Muamba it won't be due to a lack of $$$$. DR. CFL 1

Why is there this constant notion on Bomber message boards that the Bombers can not afford more than one good player? I don't understand. Plus we can slash payroll to sign whoever we want. There seems to be this notion that teams need to be under the SMS limit at all times (like the NHL cap) too.

Why is there this constant notion on Bomber message boards that the Bombers can not afford more than one good player? I don't understand. It's all speculation Mike. It's not that we can't afford more than one good player, but we are also paying good money to a chunk of mediocre players too. We'd probably be very surprised to see what some of the players on our team are making. Everyone has their idea of where we are at in terms of cap space.
sweep the leg Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Sweet Jesus would things suck if we miss out on Burris too.

There's not an "idea" of where we are at in terms of cap space right now. Other than bonus money paid this year so far, we have 100% of our cap space.
B-F-F-C Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 well geography might work in or favour with Hank. I believe he calls Calgary his home in the off season. Winnipeg would be 2 hours closer by plane than Mtl.
