Mr. Perfect Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 You know, that feeling we had with Brian Clark, Richard Karikari, Greg Carr, and Marcellus Bowman where we were given every reason to believe a signing was coming soon and time kept on dragging on and on with new news until a press release came out from a different team saying they had signed the player in question? Not that losing out on Henry would be a crushing blow with Willy still due to hit free agency, but it would still suck in terms of optics for the same thing to repeat itself.
Blueandgold Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Yeah, even though it isn't logical I feel as if we're going to get swerved and he'll end up in Montreal or something.
17to85 Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 I wish I had an optimistic feeling like that. All I have is this sinking feeling that we'll be reading an announcement about how happy Walters is to welcome Burris to Winnipeg. OldSchoolBlue 1
gbill2004 Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 @garylawless: final thought on burris, have to believe agent is testing walters. rookie gm. find out how he handles the sweat. how many HOFs on market? Atomic 1
Mr Dee Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Stare down. Burris dipping his toes in muddled Walters. Blue-urns 1
iso_55 Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 If Hank goes to Montreal with Troy Smith there or Ottawa with Glenn then we will know exactly just how badly this organization is viewed by others. Maybe the Bombers & Cleveland Browns can break off from their leagues & form a brand new one of their own, Just the 2 of them.

Maybe the Bombers & Cleveland Browns can break off from their leagues & form a brand new one of their own, Just the 2 of them. True but I just can't see that happening. Burris said in an interview a couple days ago that he'd love to play for the Bombers. I'm pretty sure it's now all about getting the most money as this is Henry's last contract.
do or die Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Well, enough people, round this league have already filled me in.....to how badly this organization is viewed by others....and it is not a edifying sight.... At this stage, we really have to sign Burris, who would provide a creditable option at QB, short term.....and buy the new management some time....to bring in the next young hope, or two. Selling Hall and "somebody or other" as the options, going into this year, would create some pretty scorched earth, round this fanbase....
Mr. Perfect Posted February 1, 2014 Author Report Posted February 1, 2014 Montreal. Zurkowski said the Als would be trying for him as well.
sweep the leg Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Korey Banks was on H & L this afternoon and said Burris would be a Bomber. Lawless asked if him if that was just a guess or if he knew something the rest of us didn't, and he said it was "much more than a guess". He also said he doesn't sign the contracts, but would put money on Burris becoming a Bomber. Apparently they're good friends, so it seems as though they've been talking...

All they'd hand out at the end of the year is those colourful participation ribbons kids get for science fairs. Mr Dee and iso_55 2
Tracker Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 The longer this goes on, I think the worse our odds are. And Willy is not a gimme either.
Captain Blue Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 He's got nowhere else to go. If for some crazy reason he opts to go to Montreal, I will quite literally laugh out loud - they will continually talk of replacing him with Smith AND if I were Montreal I'd rather spend time developing Smith some more.
Brandon Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 If Montreal were to sign him then Nieswander would be a very solid guy to go after.
Jacquie Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 The Bombers don't make announcements until a contract gets the official okey-dokey from the League. Plus they likely want Burris here for a press conference. Lots of reasons why nothing has been announced yet.
braddman19 Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 So assuming he does sign.... how many years? 2 or 3?
Jacquie Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I would think a long term contract would mean 3 years.
gbill2004 Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I'd assume 3. With the 3rd year more incentive based on starts.
Mr. Perfect Posted February 1, 2014 Author Report Posted February 1, 2014 Two plus an option is typically the standard.
Mr Dee Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I've think that it's 4 years for Henry with the option that if Hank shows up, it's back to 2+1.
gbill2004 Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I've think that it's 4 years for Henry with the option that if Hank shows up, it's back to 2+1. Huh?
