TBURGESS Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 I wish I'd kept my Brock Busters T shirt. Used to love chanting Berrrrrnie, Berrrrrnie every time Ruoff came onto the field and chanting BC Sucks too. There's nothing like the feeling of being in the stadium and watching your home team beat the begeezes out of some other team or the feeling that you get when you know the other teams hate to come to your park because the chances of getting out with a win are slim to none and they are going to get beat up either way. Those were some fun days in Bomberland. I hope to see them again.

Granted I only heard them on TV, while sitting in my living room in BC, but such is life. Glad to see the fans are keeping the tradition alive. johnzo 1
Adrenaline_x Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Anyone saying the Burris deal could be a bargain when the cap goes up is forgetting that there's about a 99.9% chance he's got a stipulation in his deal that the value goes up if the cap goes up. pure speculation I think (and in the words of the great Dave Ritchie "When I say I think, know that I know so") Mike just might have a better track record than both you and Kels. He knows what he is talking about. On the other hand, as has been evidenced time and again over the past number of days, you and Kels just simply don't. Its not about track record tho.. I'm not saying something and stating it like a fact. Anyone saying with any certainty what is included in a non-disclosed player contract is pure speculation.. Look at all the news articles and their salary figures.. There is disparity between what everyone is reporting.. So... Mike's post is purely speculative until he says he saw the contract, knows the agent and the agent told him.. Otherwise its a guess.. Maybe a good guess.. but a guess non the less. Doesn't change anything.. but 400K is not out of line for a starting QB with his numbers.. Games won in the cold? Meh.. It could be warm the next two falls..
iso_55 Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 We had Dieter Brock to deal. Huge difference. LOL - if you remember, he wasn't really "dealt", he just decided that he wanted to play in Hamilton, so Ballard "gave" us Clements in return. Dieter had just given up on Winnipeg, and really screwed himself with his zoo comment. After that no one wanted him around here. We were just lucky that Ballard gave us something in return. And something really really good. They didn't give us Clements. We traded for him. Brock for Clements. As I recall, Brock really wanted out of Winnipeg & Clements was available. Hey, I remember driving my car listening to the radio when the news came that Dieter got traded for Clements. I had to pull over lest I had an accident. I was fist pumping & screaming in my car on the side of the road on Lagimodiere Blvd. I'm sure drivers thought I was crazy. For a minute or 2, I probably was. I used to always say to my friends whenever we talked football & the Bombers just how good Tom Clements would look in a Bomber uniform & I sure wasn't wrong!! Couldn't believe he was going to be our qb. Ah, memories....
