17to85 Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Funny, both Carr and TJ Harris are free agents now, and I don't even want them back a little bit... How far our scouting has come I don't think that it makes any statement on how far the scouting has come. TJH was a real good player for the bombers, but he got an attitude about having to return rather than being released so he could chase the NFL dream and it ruined his career. Not the first time a good player has been tripped up by a terrible attitude. And Carr was a good player for us as well, What this really shows is how much Mack has just gone about building up the depth on this team.

Not a huge market for 275 lb receivers.

17to85 Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 well we can chalk that up to a bad attitude right? Athletes with a good attitude take care of themselves and keep themselves in good shape.
do or die Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 You can never go very wrong....getting rid of people, with the wrong attitude...
rebusrankin Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 TJH seemed to go down hill right after he hurt his knee.
JuranBoldenRules Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 TJH seemed to go down hill right after he hurt his knee. High-ankle sprain? He was on pace for like 1600 yards and 16 TD's when he got injured in 2010. rebusrankin 1
SPuDS Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 I'd bring Carr back in place of Denmark, to be honest. But I love tall receivers. in a heart beat... the matchups would be sick... IF he still has it..gotta wonder what's up..
JohnnyOnTheSpot Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 D Pierce has been loyal, he deserves the chance first. Blue-urns 1
SPuDS Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 D Pierce has been loyal, he deserves the chance first. true to a point... if we brought in carr and he beats him out in practice though...
JohnnyOnTheSpot Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 true to a point... if we brought in carr and he beats him out in practice though... Not going to happen because Carr was never as good in practise as he was in games. Pierce ain't chopped liver either, he can play.
rebusrankin Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 High-ankle sprain? He was on pace for like 1600 yards and 16 TD's when he got injured in 2010. That's right, had knee injury in my head for some reason. That was my point though, on pace for a great year, never the same.
Armchair GM Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Not going to happen because Carr was never as good in practise as he was in games. Pierce ain't chopped liver either, he can play. Non-starting WR's that aren't good in practice... rarely win starts... because starts are won in practice.
Noeller Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Carr was cut to make room for Geroy, actually. GS is coming off the IR for this week, so no more room.
saskbluefan Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 I think it speaks to the fragile nature of being an American in the CFL. There are about a million good players waiting to take these jobs. When you are in a place where the coaches and the quarterbacks trust you it might not be wise to leave for an extra $15,000.
pigseye Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Is he better than Pierce or Anderson.......at this stage he probably is until we see more of those guys, TE is in his twilight, especially the injuries seem to be catching up with him, wouldn't be surprised to see him not finish the season. We need to find his replacement sooner rather than later and I would have no qualms about Carr taking his place right now even. Don't know that I could say that about the other two we have.
TBURGESS Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 I've been surprised that Carr hasn't been effective since he left Winnipeg. I like the way he plays, especially the fade route in the endzone. Personally, I'd take Carr over Edwards at this point and he would be a lot cheaper. He might even be a decent replacement for Matthews next year. All that being said. I doubt the Bombers will make him any offers unless a couple of import receivers go down.
Mr Dee Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Whoa, look who wants to go younger and cheaper.
Brandon Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Whoa, look who wants to go younger and cheaper. Who? The Riders dropped him for an older and much more pricier player?
Blueandgold Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Everyone is remembering his success late in 2011 a little too fondly. He's been complete trash since he left.
Jacquie Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Carr was cut to make room for Geroy, actually. GS is coming off the IR for this week, so no more room. According to an article by the Canadian Press that's posted at CFL.ca, Simon isn't playing in the Riders home opener. http://www.cfl.ca/article/simon-out-ruled-out-for-riders-home-opener
DR. CFL Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Finding talent is one thing. Building a team is completely different. Constantly rotating bodies thru an organization does not built continuity or a sense of team amongst players. You need a cohesive unit that believe they are a part of something, working towards a common goal. This holds for a team be it sport or business.
Mr Dee Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Who? The Riders dropped him for an older and much more pricier player? I was referring to TBurgess who has, in the past, railed on the Bombers for going.....younger and cheaper.

Football isn't as black and white as folks make it out to be. I don't think Edwards gives us enough considering his salary. I don't think he has many good games left in him. Mack brings in lots of good receivers. So sure, I'd go younger and cheaper in this case.
