gbill2004 Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Chris Matthews is off to the NFL. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver, who was the CFL’s rookie of the year in 2012, will make a decision on which team he will join this afternoon. Matthews, 24, became a free agent on Tuesday and was weighing contract offers on both sides of the border. “All the details will be ironed out today,” Matthews’ agent, Rodney Edwards, said this afternoon. “It’s down to two teams.” Edwards said no matter which deal Matthews takes, he will receive a signing bonus. http://m.winnipegsun.com/2014/02/16/bombers-chris-matthews-weighing-options-between-two-nfl-teams.

iso_55 Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Wiecek.... Just how did the Bombers fail to sign Matthews if he went to the NFL? That would be a dumb comment.
Blueandgold Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Good for him, I hope he comes back here if he doesn't make it up there.
Zontar Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Good for him, I hope he comes back here if he doesn't make it up there. Are you in Mexico ?
gbill2004 Posted February 16, 2014 Author Report Posted February 16, 2014 The Nick Moore signing is looking a lot better now. IC Khari 1

James Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 has Ted Laurent signed an NFL contract yet?
kelownabomberfan Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 has Ted Laurent signed an NFL contract yet? He's got a work out some time this week. If that doesn't result in an offer then the Laurent sweepstakes begin. I saw one article valuing him at $150K. I hope if that's true that the Bombers at least show some interest and put in a contract offer. He'd be a big piece on the DL. He won't be a replacement for Doug Brown (no one really could be) but he'd give us some roster flexibility.
IC Khari Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Hope for the best for Chris down there but I think his speed or lack of, and age will ultimately see him come back North, hopefully with us.

Ted Laurent signing with the Bombers would make instant fans of Walters by all and sundry here. Now, if only Christo Bilikudi returns to the fold...actually, he was never in the fold.

Whether he would be interested in coming here is the question.

I said to Noeller a while back that if Bilikudi or Mulumba wanted to go and get themselves cut from the NFL that'd be a huge boon to the Bombers. Noeller 1

SPuDS Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Good enough to make it ? hmmmm... big enough, good hands and skilled... Not fast enough and age is climbing... Could be a possession reciever maybe down south..

Bomber_fanaddict Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Did they say which 2 teams he is interested in? I'd feel much better about him going to the NFL if he became a Green Bay Packer
Jacquie Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Did they say which 2 teams he is interested in? I'd feel much better about him going to the NFL if he became a Green Bay Packer They don't know which teams have made offers.
kelownabomberfan Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 it would be really cool to see Matthews grabbing passes from Tom Brady next year. The Patriots need an upgrade at receiver after losing Welker and with Gronk being constantly injured.
M.O.A.B. Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Kirk Penton @PentonKirk 2m According to a source, Chris Matthews is going to the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. #Bombers woohooo!
Bomber_fanaddict Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 The Moore signing looking better as each day passes! Glad we got him when we did and didn't stand around waiting for Edwards to retire and Matthews to go tp the NFL and then scramble to find a replacement. Good luck to Matthews!
