Nasty Nate Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 Kinda disappointing if they were courting Walrus Wylie they didn't pull the trigger and have him out at the combine, evaluating the 3 top hogs, one of which will be a bomber!!!

The Bombers already have several people in their employ who are paid specifically to know how to identify the best prospects. If they can't make a good decision without the presence of a positional coach there then why are we paying those people in the first place?
DR. CFL Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 The over emphasis on using the combine as an significant evaluation tool has been an issue in the past. Teams now have access to a large pool of CIS game tape at their disposal. I would suggest that the E Camp ay give additional insight into players through their interviews and perhaps any health / injury issues that might put up a red flag.

Welcome Nate Would be nice (if they are getting Wylie) if he had of been there, but yes the Bombers should be able to tell a good prospect without him. Every eye that can be used does help though IMO. Lets hope this process of getting him or whoever signed gets done soon. The season is not that far off ...
gbill2004 Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 Apparently Wylie got too much Danny & Buck's BBQ sauce on the contract, so the Bombers had to draft a new one
Bomber_fanaddict Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 It's about time they made it official
Dirty30 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 @Pascucci015: Finally! Blue Bombers say Bob Wylie will oversee the development of the offensive line. Notice they didn't name Wylie OL coach. Hmmmmmm More to come???
Noeller Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Fantastic...love Patrick Neufeld's tweet. "Things just keep getting better in blue"...
gbill2004 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Interesting he's not being called a 'coach' anywhere by the Bombers. I wonder what that means.
Mike Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I would guess that it's probably something that they've written in so he can basically get up and leave whenever he wants. The NFL will come calling, he's that good.

gbill2004 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 @garrettbillan1: @Darren_Cameron why are Bombers not calling him an OL 'coach'? @Darren_Cameron: @garrettbillan1 he is coaching the o-line.
Mr Dee Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Absolutely good news. And yes, the wording of his addition "The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today that Bob Wylie has been added to the club’s football staff and will oversee the development of the offensive line." is interesting. Now, we can finally gauge the value of the O-Line we've had around here for years…with trusted judgment. Welcome to the new addition to the Blue Bombers… The Overseer, Bob Wylie!
M.O.A.B. Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 because he's that good, calling him 'coach' is not appropriate. 'overseer' is the new term. johnzo 1
IC Khari Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Great news and I'm really looking forward to improved play on the online ...
Jpan85 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Its a real coup to get a guy who is best at coaching that position on either side of the boarder. Can't wait for him to start coaching up guys like Pencer and Swiston who have a lot of potential.
Mike Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 So true. Pencer, Swiston, Greaves and whoever goes 2nd overall will all benefit from Wylie immensely. He immediately upgrades our OL. To make an awful comparison, acquiring Wylie as a coach means to our OL what signing Josh Bourke would have meant. SPuDS 1
